I know many of you are thinking of spring right now, but where I live, it's still winter and will likely remain so for at least another month and a half. And so, my newest original song release is meant to capture a unique side of winter. Instead of the usual Arctic setting, I went for something a little different here. Back in early 2022, when I did a collab for the Frozen Charlotte poem with a friend, I gave a choice between two songs, this is the other one that was not chosen. The other one did indeed fit a little better, but this is too good to not use as a winter soundscape. I decided to give a bit of education about what happened in 1980 on Mount Saint Helens in May when the shit hit the fan and things would never be the same again. Oddly enough, most of the destruction went one way, as the other side of the mountain wasn't blown off, and the other side was even as it erupted was filmed and photographed from a mere ten miles away. Things after the volcano eruption still have yet to recover, but the resort that was on the nearby Spirit Lake disappeared and was never rebuilt. This composition I created does indeed have that icy wind sound to it, but much less so than in my polar themed songs. This is definitely a winter piece and I hope you enjoy learning about it and listening. If you do enjoy, please be sure to share. Back when this song was made, I was in the middle of a few month period where I was getting really experimental with music (late 2019 into early 2020) but in an effort to retain normalcy, I stopped with the musical experiments in spring of 2020. I'm hoping to resume the experimental nature of songs like this one.
