Leap Year Day 2020 - A Four Year Retrospective

Published 2024-02-29
Happy Leap Year Day! As is becoming a tradition, I write an original song on Leap Year Day, then post that same original composition four years later on the next time February 29 rolls around. This is a more traditional winter type of song than we'd see in other years, the irony being that this was a period of time when I got really experimental with my music. Back when I wrote this, my life was in a much better place, things were going in a good direction for me. Following the amazing year that was 2019 (well, at least the second half of it), I was full of optimism, and why not? I was booked to perform in front of over 40,000 in May 2020. But then, 2020 had other ideas. There were all constant reminders of how things that were going right suddenly were just all wrong, I got so tired of the pandemic-themed content, I tried to maintain a bit of normalcy on my channel, the little bit I did make was dark. In March of 2021, my mom passed away and that began a run of things going from bad to worse, then I lost my one sister in summer of 2022, four of my five cats, a family friend, and an uncle in 2023, and my nearly quarter-century old bird in January of 2024. I'm also not nearly as well-off financially. But it's not all bad as this clip show accompanying this original piece I composed shows. In the original song's music video, I take a look back with Victoria over the last four years and detail a lot of changes, some events are fictional, some aren't. For those of you who have been missing videos with Victoria in them, for the first time, she's in the entire video here. We even have a date at the end. With that, I hope you enjoyed what I came up with here and I hope you're still here 2028 when I post the Leap Year song that I wrote this year just before posting this!

HAPPY LEAP YEAR DAY! THIS IS A CLIP SHOW OF THE PAST FOUR YEARS, BE SURE TO WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH SO THAT YOU DON'T MISS A THING MEANING TO NOT SKIP AHEAD OR CLICK AWAY TO ANOTHER WINDOW because I want to make sure you see everything! Also, there seems to be some confusion with a small percentage of my viewers who seem to have mistaken me (the narrator) for Victoria (my girlfriend seen in the song stories). Just to clear up any confusion, I'm the boyfriend who's the narrator. I'm supposed to be like the "cameraman" as if this were a vlog and I were filming my girlfriend during our adventures. I hope this clears things up. On a side note, some of you have been around here so long that you've seen everything in the video, even before, so it'll bring back memories. For other, you get to learn about the last for years of AltoonaYourPiano!

I really enjoyed not only your composition, but also your thoughtful and meaningful video. I really appreciated seeing clips from your previous videos as well, and it was sweet to see a recap of the good times with Victoria. This inspired me to reflect on the past 4 years, all the good and the bad, and think about where I am today. I'm sorry you've faced so many difficult times since the last leap day, but I really respect the way you keep moving forward. Happy leap day 2024, and let's hope the next 4 years are better than the last!
