Ditching my Tesla for Mustang Mach-E

I still have my Model Y. Relax 😂

I’ve heard dealers are killing sales with their market adjustment shenanigans. Recently took delivery of a MYLR and the no dealer experience was probably the best part.

It’s nearly 10k more than Model Y performance. Let that sink in. End of the day, it’s your money so your choice.

Great job as usual. I always appreciate your fair, and humorous takes. As a MME owner I appreciate other EVs and don't have any hate toward any other brand model. More than enough roadway for all of us. I have the Ext Prem AWD and it is plenty fast for me but I don't care about racing anyone either.

OTA is going to unlock the ability to fly for the mach-e. Hence ground speed for now.

I let my coworker drive my new Model Y last year….& he was so excited….he put an order in for a ModelY Performance! He then started test driving many EVs (he had never done that before)….over the next few weeks he tried the Mustang Mach e….. he eventually bought the Mustang Mach E & showed it off to everyone!….i drove it….i wasnt impressed….as i had gotten used to my tesla!….. 2 mos later, his Performance came in……. He chose to sell his Mercedes & brand new truck (that he really didn’t need). His wife fell in love with the mustang, so he gave her the car & kept the Tesla……he is now an ALL EV family! Keep your ford…..I’ll keep my 😂Tesla….I LOVE the Tech…..i love that its updated often…… it reminds me of my Mac!! After 6 mos i never felt like i had to upgrade like with PC….the Model Y has a much bigger feel ….I’m not sure if i would go with a Mustang for $64k when The new model Y is now much less! But enjoy!

107 degrees? In June? Wow! Doesn't get that hot around here until like September or October. Nice to see a MY owner compare to a Mach-e. I absolutely LOVE my Mach-e after 15,000 miles. Drove the MY several times and every time felt like the suspension is crap. Also, I much prefer the vertical screen in the Mach-e as well as in the Model S. (I have a friend with a beautiful 2013 Model S.) I have learned to really appreciate the door button. I can't tell how often my hands have been full and needed to open the door with my thumb. Also, the rear seats are very comfortable, even for a 6' 4" guy like me. The range is great. My wife drove from Los Angeles to Tijuana and back without charging. Of course, Ford (and GM) are both able to use the Tesla charging network soon.

I've done extended test drives on both a mach e gt, and model y performance. Model y is hands down much better.

Good update thanks! What made me decide on a Tesla was the charging network. Now that others have joined the Tesla Charging Network, that opens a lot of options, as I'm not 'married' to Tesla. I like the fact that MachE has Carplay. Are your seats cooling also? And I saw Cross Traffic alert (I assume when backing). The Tesla Voice control and simplicity was a pleasant surprise I didn't know until I owned one. I didn't see any "battery prep" on your menus like when you are driving to charging station. I don't like the MachE door handles at all. Will watch your other comparison and see if you answered these questions. Again thanks !

Also test the charging, would like to see if improved DC charging experience on this new version.

I had ordered a Mach E over a tesla July 22. After spending months trying to find one on lots. I DID NOT WANT A TESLA. Build time was 4 months, then 6 months...then "we will let you know" I got anxious, Mid life crisis hitting hard. Im like, lets test drive a Tesla. OMFG, I bought a M3 that day. Did the right thing. Ended up being the sam MSRP (no mark up) 2.5%. By the time they called me for my MachE, interest on cars were up to 4.5% at best. I still love the exterior of the Mach E more than any Tesla. But, the experience and headstart of Tesla was more reassuring. No horror stories of stolen orders or marked up deliveries.

Love that you got the MME. I have the f150 Lightning and it’s been fantastic so far. I wish we lived closer and you could drive the truck and do a comparison video. N

Great review, thanks for being fair and honest. I’ve had 3 @ 5.0 Mustangs and now have the 2023 Mache GT. All Ford Mustangs say “Ground Speed” because the Mustang name wasn’t chosen because of the animal but because of the P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft. In the 2015 Mustang 5.0 the buttons were made to look like aircraft switches. Pretty cool when considering the history of the aircraft.

Current (and past) Mach E and Lightning models will work on the Tesla network with an adapter, future models won't need the adapter.

It says ground speed because every Mustang back to the very first in 1964 did. The name Mustang was taken from the Mustang P51 fighter plane, not a horse... despite using a horse logo.

Been watching your vids on ev's here and there. But i had to subscribe after the olive garden shart comment. That was hilarious. Thank you for making my vehicle research more enjoyable.

I test drove a Mach-e and really liked it, only no Federal EV credits in Canada, so to expensive for the long range premium.
