Well, I am retired and bought my EV for just doing around town daily driving. I don't get on high speed Expressways or do long trips, and I only charge my EV in my home garage. So it works for me, and I don't really care what others think about EV vehicles.
  • @samclark3879
I have a 2021 MYP with 39,000 miles. I purchased it with the idea it would be the last car I ever have to buy. (I was 68 at the time). Nothing has happened since to make me think that won't be the case. No maintenance costs outside of changing the cabin air filter and the tires recently. Absolutely LOVE my MYP as much now as when I bought it.
  • The same people that complain about range and charge times, are the same folks that willingly sit at costco for gas.
  • @justinsugay1149
I had a Leaf for 4 years and now have a Model 3. Tesla Supercharging network makes for a completely different experience. Way better!
  • @TheYendor24
I vote that if Top Gear USA is ever revived, Gjeebs has to be the host. He just has to. I love this dude's channel.
  • @WaynePeacock
Battery density is important. But, when considering the whole EV market, I think range is not as important as infrastructure and charging speed.
  • @samwarren1429
Gjeebs stated reasons for upgrading: 1) Low finance rate. 2) Creator content. Number 1 is reasonable IF you like the current model or need to replace your car NOW. However, you seem to have the current car set up just the way you like it. Trade up to the performance model? Number 2? What new content can you create with it? Everything is the same except for the processor and cameras. You have already done all the upgrade videos, travel videos, impression videos, accessories, etc. That only leaves a few new processor driven features. Logically you should wait for the refresh (if that still happens).

Our first was a July 2020 Model Y. Loved it and put 56,000 miles on in two years. Then we traded it for a new Oct 2023 Model Y with FSD HW 4. WOW! Hard to believe the huge improvement in fit and finish, reduced noise, and suspension smoothness... And the improvements in FSD recently are mind blowing.

i am a true petrol head , i love my gas engine cars and, i love all forms of propulsion including ev's people that are ignorant towards the technology in ev's tend to have very wrong ideas of the actual technology they go so far to make you think evs are for the liberals or for the biden voters but in reality and i have proof they are unaware of what an ev can do or how it works or they go based on what other say or they go based on what they saw on the Internet im going to tell you this , i dont believe evs are the future or the green alternative no i dont think that, but evs are fast cool and i love my ev everyday more and more .
  • @samirshah5411
I got my long range model Y on June 2, 2021 have put on almost 89,000 miles, zero issues besides three sets of tires. Waiting for a cyber beast allocation.
  • @CaptainCrunch-1
Gotta get Michelin tires. They last much longer. I own a model 3 (5 years) and model y (2 years) and have had one issue with a passenger seat sensor. The Tesla tech came to my house and fixed it within 30 minutes. Zero issues. Love traveling in the model Y. Haven’t been limited anywhere we go in the US. Both vehicles lost about 8-10% of max range the first 2 years and haven’t degraded at all since. My model 3LR still has a Mx range of 285. I think I could own these cars for 15-20 more years if need be. Absolutely love both cars.
  • @davegenet
I wish they made a Y with a metal roof and a openable sunroof. It’s nice to block out sun completely and still get air and sun when you want it. I live in Arizona.
  • @user-qw6ib8by3n
I commute 130 miles a day on a Tesla rwd model 3 lfp and love waking up to a 80 to 100 % charge every day and spend $60 a month on electricity. I have no range anxiety after two months of no issues. Had the car for 1 1/4 year what’s all the complaints about - no maintenance except tires. I will not go back to a dumd dumb ice car.
  • @jsasu.3
i just hit 90,000 on my 2021MYP. Love it. 2 sets of tires and about 6 jugs of washer fluid/wipers is all i have replaced. BMW fan also, in fact, Im shopping for a X5 M50i (V8) after a we pay the Tesla off.
  • Some critical points about MY performance as a previous owner of mid 2023 version: 1. It is fast on a straight line but by no means it drives sporty. It is actually very lackluster in terms of handling. 2. The efficiency is actually pretty close to the regular MY, if you drive it the same way avoid max acceleration the difference is just a result of wheel size. 19" on a myp yields same mileage. 3. Ride quality is better than the earlier models but still not good, I would have been ok with it if it handled better but it doesn't. Also the brakes calipers are just painted red otherwise brakes are the same as the regular model. The earlier models actually had better brakes, the later ones are just painted. 4. Finally, the car interior is cheap even after the upgrades in years. This was probably not a big deal several years ago because of the novelty and covid market but now it is beginning to show. It is outdated at this point and quality is not even close to the entry level vehicles from Japanese brands. After my test drive with the new model 3 I can say that it is a very significant improvement over this model y and the previous model 3. Much quieter, much better ride quality, much better material quality, the doors sound nice, seats are much better etc. It's by no means at a luxury car level, the build quality on the tester was still behind Japanese cars but it was close enough to overlook these things. If they bring new model 3 improvements to model y that would be a big step up. I don't think one should get this one unless the price is very good or they need a vehicle immediately. Awaiting your video on the new performance model 3. Cheers
  • @johnbailey2933
I have a M3P with 30K mi and am going to get a Model Y for my spouse with the 0.99% finance. I'm happy with both. Your (and others) complaint is like saying I would buy a certain car if it had a much larger gas tank. Rather our complaint should be the slow roll out of dependable and multiple charging sites. Tesla is the only car company making this part of their capitol investment strategy. If logistics support doesn't markedly improve, EV adoption will remain a niche product (at least in the US). (IMHO) Thanks for your honest update.
  • @ColinLaughery
Took me a few months of watching your stuff to see the full spectrum of humor that you toss. Damn, man... You have a gift.
  • @TedKidd
I upgraded my 21 to 24 in March. So glad I did. $13k, FSD transfer, credits to put boost on one of my other cars, 10k supercharging, brand new warranty, and rid of a noisy hard riding car.
  • @Toycollector33
Ive had my Y for 3 years and 65k miles. I would buy a new one but the batteries havent improved. I'll hold onto mine until there is something to upgrade to. Tesla should figure that out before they run out of customers.
