Hi friends, happy Thursday!

Welcome to Dark History. People used to be sacrificed for popcorn. Yep. The buttery goodness that you finish eating before the trailers are even over at the movies. Now you may be thinking, “how in the heck does that make any sense?” Because, honestly, that was also my initial reaction. But let me tell you, the history of popcorn is WILD. And we’re getting into all of it on today’s episode. So buckle in, babe.

I appreciate you for coming by, and I hope to be seeing you next week for even more dark history. Hope you have a great week ahead and I will be seeing you very soon xx Bailey Sarian

"And what's more powerful than strength?" Me: "...corn?" "Intellienge" "..oh that makes sense"
  • @JewelApril13
As a native american watcher of your, I truly appreciate how you don't demonize native lifestyles and beliefs. You're beyond respctful when sharing the history of all these morbid things. Thank you for having this awesome podcast!!
  • @maleahlock
Bailey: first they killed a little girl and then a woman. My Son: I don't think men should be allowed to make up religions. 😂
  • "Don't forget to thank the children who lost their heads for your bowl of popcorn" That hit different with a bowl of popcorn in my hands 😆
  • @knaomastaley
So cool! My dad was on the team of 7 (or so) engineers who figured out the technology for the little black “sheets” that make microwave popcorn pop. We enjoy talking about that experience. Yay, 1980s engineers! 🎉
  • Oleo, or margarine, has a pretty gross history, all by itself! I would love to learn more about the facts in that dark history. It started out as a lubricant made by the military. It sounds perfect for you. Yes? No? Maybe? Hopefully? Pretty please? 🥺
  • I love dark history 🖤 I miss MMM too but either way, I just need Bailey’s voice back in my life.
  • @luciuelane
As someone who is half Mexican...I can say that my ancient ancestors the Aztecs were the original "children of the corn" 😉😁🍿
  • @kaylalsilvers
For me, I really like corn. CORN. A big lump of knobs. It has the juice. I can’t imagine a more beautiful thing. It’s corn! I can tell you all about it. I mean, look at this thing. When I tried it with butter everything changed. 🌽🌽🌽
  • @TJeanPhotos
Do a 13 colonies episode! I heard that at the time in England, if people got in trouble with the law they were sometimes sent to the colonies to be slaves, and it was considered worse than be sentenced to death for so many reasons, including the danger dying on the boat before they even arrived.
  • I love Joan's little popcorn. Does anyone else anticipate her little accessories? She's so cute! 🖤🤣
  • "Sad animals and stolen humans...you remember The Circus... It all started with a man with a small ego who liked horse tricks... it always does" What a perfect description! (34:28) 🙃
  • @lJuJuBee11l
Bailey: They're were chopping kids heads off. Me: WHAT?! Bailey: But first let's go to commercial 🙃🥴
  • @kbrock9146
Bailey and her "bra corn" is just another example of how she is us and we are her. The realness never stops.
  • @redraven7948
I've REALLY missed Bailey! My friend of 40yrs passed away a few weeks ago. We would chill & watch MM&M & Dark History...ALL the Bailey things. 💜💜💜
  • Bailey literally got me more interested in true crime. The make up was definitely appreciated. But I love dark history, as a teacher, history was one of my favorite subjects. I love the "small details " books left out.
  • Popcorn was a way to stay off hunger pains in the depression as I was told by my grandmother.
  • @AngelA-hs2cc
As a Aztec I knew most of this already and yeah I think you should do a whole episode about the Aztecs it would be awesome
