Hi friends, happy Thursday!

Welcome to the Dark History podcast. If a product is dangerous, but it still sells well, is it really that dangerous? Um, yes, yes it is. In today's episode, we talk all about it by focusing on one company in particular: Johnson & Johnson. J&J has routinely put sales over people’s lives. “But why?” you may ask. Because money talks, baby! Let’s get into the Dark History of Johnson & Johnson. And great, now I’m on another hit list.

I appreciate you for coming by, and tune in next week for more Dark History.

  • Bailey: "If i ever disappear, we have many suspects." Me: "IT WAS NESTLE!!!!"
  • You should definitely make a dark history video on nursing homes/ retirement homes!
  • @jaebulmer8347
I'm in the uk. In the 2000's I worked on a gynae/oncology ward in a large city hospital. The consultant/surgeon wouldn't allow any J&J products anywhere near his patients, especially baby powder. He told all nursing staff that these were deadly and he knew that the powder caused cancers!!!! 😱🧐
  • @emmajacque200
This episode made me realize I need a dark history on marketing and advertising
  • @kimthomas2472
I cut a little boys hair the other day. I asked him if he wanted powder to get the loose hairs off of his face. He said "yeah, but make sure you don't use the powder in a baby's diaper cuz it's bad" i was 😳🤯 ... I don't have kids but this lil boy just schooled me
  • In 2011, my friend died of ovarian cancer at just 24 years old. She used baby powder for thigh chafing. 2 years ago her mother died of cancer as well. I learned about the link to cancer a few years ago, and honestly it's devastating. She was genuinely the kindest person I have ever known and the thought that this might have been connected hurts so much.

Stage 4 Ovarian cancer survivor. Thank you for covering this. 🙏 💙

Girlll i work in childcare and would have some parents bring baby powder for diaper change time. I warned them all of this problem and one of them thanked me for saving their baby’s life. The poor baby was having problems and was later diagnosed w cancer😢. They of course stopped using it and tried to sue. They were able to get the baby in remission. Props to you for bringing more awareness 🙌🏽.

Every day that Bailey uploads and we get to hang out with her is just a happier and better day for us. Thank you Bailey!
  • @katholeen_
Bailey is in a silly goofy mood this entire video & we are here for it
  • As a teenager in the 70s my friends and I used to have fun putting on KISS makeup. To set the Steins clown white you had to use baby powder. We did this quite a bit. Not too much longer after this I began having breathing issues and was diagnosed with asthma. Coincidence? I don't think so. Thank you for telling this story.

Talc really is in so much, especially in cosmetics and personal care items. When my kiddo was a baby, I used a cornstarch based baby powder to avoid the talcum based baby powder. I also don't use eyeshadow if I see talc or mica as an ingredient, because of how toxic those ingredients can be, especially being on the eyes. You should/could do a full episode on the dark history of the unregulated cosmetic industry by focusing on certain ingredients that have been proven harmful, such as talcum and mica. I remember hearing about harmful ingredients in lipstick in the late 90s when I was a teenager. Apparently a lot of companies still use those same harmful ingredients in lipstick.
  • I CANNOT begin to describe how excited I am for you to cover this story. Yesterday I was JUST telling my coworkers about how messed up J&J is.
  • @withlovegrace
Baby the second she said Johnson and Johnson I knew this was going to be juicy, because they are definitely shady!
  • @CaseyAvalon
I'm weary of anyone or any company saying "we're like a family". If an employer uses that, RUN! 👍🤠
  • @Kenzi24
Bailey laughing at her own jokes is so cute
  • I remember when my health visitor told me to don't use J&J products on my little one. Now I understand why. Thank you Bailey ❤️
  • When I was pregnant with my 1st child in 2009, my grandmother made me promise to never use baby powder. I dint ask why, just promised her. I mean grandma knows best. Then when the whistle was blown and it hit the fan, I was sure glad I listened!
  • @emkyew6837
My mom is now in year 8 of a lawsuit she is holding against J&J. Because of the mesh used to sling her bladder. She had needed over 5 surgeries because of their faulty product and it has minimized her quality of life. This has been such a horrific experience. THEY DO NOT CARE.
