In this video we meet Ivan, Nadezhda and their family of seven daughters. How do they spend their day and survive in the coldest city in the world? Nadezhda makes reindeer boots, which are some of the warmest boots in the world. We explore preparing ice, how they do heating, how much it costs, and also playing outside with their dog. The girls also visit their grandma to help her chop wood and put on the fire. The family also prepares a lovely local meal with fish, and local delicacies (my favourite). You might think that that it is very cold in Yakutia, but I'm happy to share with you the warmth of the family life of our culture.

  • 7 daughters in that extreme cold, the amount of responsibility the parents holds to raise them deserves a lot of recognition.

Their house is absolutely beautiful and their daughters are going to be so well rounded when they are adults.
  • No matter how cold the climate, they all got such warm big hearts. This makes me so happy!

I'm so cheerful when grandma called her lovely grandkids little monkey, it shows she misses them so much to annoy and make her home with fun..
  • Those boots look amazing and so warm. It’s amazing that she makes them all by hand.
  • I'm sitting in my heated room during winter and I'm still cold. You guys are simply amazing with your survival and cold resisting tatics

I live in Saskatchewan Canada and 2 weeks ago, it was about -42C with the windchill for around a week.. it was awful, but I couldn’t imagine going through that every single day… much respect to you and everyone who lives there! I love the videos, very educational

Nothing gives more joy then visiting your grandma and take blessings. Love from India 🇮🇳

i could listen to Kiun's narrating all day, its very calming and sweet
  • Watching this video is truly touching, how a family with 7 children struggles to build a happy family life in a very cold climate. We who live in a tropical climate certainly really appreciate all the struggles that are always made by their parents. Lets keep up the spirit everyone of Yakutia.

another heartwarming episode about life in a freezer. it shows how much better difficult lives are made when there is teamwork and cooperation. Apart from the cold temps, Yakutian life seems very familiar. I grew up an only child to a chronically ill mother in rural southwest England. We were very poor. Had no car most of the week. We had no drinking water, central heating or paved road. We lived in a draughty cold house on the cliffs, where storms were frequent. I had to fetch water daily in heavy cannister from a nearby farm. Our well water for baths had to be drawn in buckets when the pump died. We had 2 log fires which had to be fed with kindling & logs sawn and chopped by me from our woodland. I had to drag branches to the house so I could do the necessary with them. I had to dig out/clear ditches to avoid flooding, hack back undergrowth, take care of our chickens including the mucking out, scythe our lawn (we had no lawnmower) to keep the snakes at bay (1 of our cats fot bitten). I had to cycle miles on hilly roads to get groceries on Saturdays. I slogged through mud & cow poo to reach the location where a van would collect me to drive 5 miles to the school bus stop. I swapped wellington boots for school shoes at the farm where we got water. At weekends I helped with housework. I learned to cook meals and bake before I was 11yrs old. My farmboy classmates called me Earth Mother because of my home life and muscles. The girls in my year never knew such hardships - their world was fashion and make up. Mine was constant tiredness and aching bones!

The way grandma welcomes them is just awesome. Do you guys greet your family members by touching the tip of each others' noses?
  • I love to watch your videos about Yakutia! They are such hard working, loving people! They bring my heart joy!
  • @siddybhai5987
7 daughters! Looks like Ivan kept trying for a son without luck!
  • Beautiful people…loving, hardworking, resourceful, adaptive and highly skilled, humble, happy, supportive of each other. I could go on and on with the hyperboles and rightly so! Your people are an inspiration to ALL peoples of the world ❤ love from New Zealand

Your videos are like a hug, so delightful to watch, they are a great reminder that happiness is supposed to be simple, it doesn't require the perfect conditions to grow. While people here on the West need the best car, the best house, the best weather and the best job to be happy, always chasing something else to feel complete, you find happiness on the small things, like spending time with the family, cooking together, and that's why I keep coming back to your videos, because they are a breeze of fresh air in this complicated world, an important reminder that life (and happiness) is supposed to be simple. Congrats for the amazing channel.
