We need less “strong female characters” and more “strong characters that happen to be female”

As 16 year old male it definitely hurts when modern media kicks me while I’m down, tells I suck for being male, then beats me again for good measure.

I totally agree. One of my favourite female characters is Miss Marple, the hero of Agatha Christie’s detective series. The power that this frail elderly lady wields simply by virtue of her intellect is awe-inspiring.

I can’t say I’ve liked many of the recent dominant female characters in media recently. Hollywood has been celebrating WHAT we are, not WHO we are.

There's a simple way to check if certain behavior is ok. Swap the genders and replay it. If it's offensive after the gender swap then it's probably just offensive in general.
