The 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor AWD ($47,740 USD starting, $66,003 CAD starting) and a very well loved 2018 Tesla Model 3 (~$20,000 USD) are facing off for our very first episode of new vs old with an electric vehicle. The new Model 3 has been heavily refreshed this year, and has seen some pretty serious new upgrades and changes. These include a much quieter cabin, a new exterior design, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, better speakers and more. But are all of these changes worth the hefty price jump over a used one? Thomas and James are excited to see how far the Model 3 has come, and just how much car you can get for the price on the used market. We hope you enjoy the episode. And then subscribe, silly.

"NEXT 4 MILFS" had me do a double take, rofl

I hope the helmet I8 scene never leaves the intros.

For reference flop refers to how drastic the color change is when light is directly shining on a painted surface vs when it is just illuminated by ambient light. Think Pearlescent paint. Soul Red Crystal looks so good because it gets really dark when light is not shining directly at it, meaning it emphasizes the design more. Source: automotive design grad student

Can't believe my standards have dropped this low, but the older version is better for the simple fact it has stalks (and radar)
  • the condition of the model 3 at 50k miles is wild. Even if it is a rental.
  • I own a 2019 model 3 I’m not sure if I just got lucky but I love build quality of the car nothings fallen apart (yet lol) there’s no misaligned panel gaps or paint issues, no squeaking or creaking. There is a lot of wind noise at high speeds but it doesn’t really bother me the speakers are great at drowning it out. If anyone is interested in buying a used model 3 just make sure the seller took care of it and didn’t just treat it like a piece of junk because mine held up well for a lower-end ev. It’s also wicked fast not too many cars in traffic can catch up I love driving it.

No, the separated B pillar trim is a feature! Extra ventilation!

Karston's nod was ominous. Remind me to stay on his good side.

“The frog has become the snake” was a great way to summarize the design change. As not a car guy, I actually thought the frog was cool too. In the US I haven’t been in a position where not having indicator stalks would be a significant issue, but I understand that some people and places would have a lot of difficulty.

I love your guys channel, its always a "oh hell yeah" moment when I open youtube and see a new video is up.
  • As an FYI on the decibel scale, 3dB is about double the intensity. A 3-6dB difference is really impressive!

Bought a 2019 model 3 with 55k miles on it in France about 6 months ago. It now has 68k miles and it’s almost like new. I’m really impressed with the quality even with my kids putting it thoughts it’s paces in the back…

I’ve seen a couple of roughly 22-minute long videos on this channel now, in addition to saying “enjoy the show.” I can only think of one reason: you’re also now broadcast on regular TV in Canada now. Congrats! You’ve definitely earned it
