The 2024 Porsche Cayenne S ($149,770 as specced in Canada, $129,820 in the US) is now back in V8 format after several years of V6 power. But how does it compare to the cheapest V8 of yesteryear we could find, a 2009 Porsche Cayenne S being sold for just $10,995 in Canada (~$7,970 USD converted). The new Cayenne S boasts some serious power and can be optioned to the moon, but the older Cayenne has some rugged character and costs less than just a few options on the new one. How far has the Cayenne come in 15 years? Thomas and James are excited to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode! And then subscribe, silly.

Man I love this old vs new/ cheap vs expensive series
  • @TrigonAZR
Those "old vs new" videos are by far my favourite on TH. You're doing amazing work guys
  • @mikepaquette5711
It is extremely fascinating how Porsche went back to the V8 in an era where combustion engines are getting smaller and smaller. Their commitment to fun, engaging cars has always impressed me.
  • @babyteeth4
Perfect comic timing on that opening bit! Another great video, guys!

Throttle House has become my Top Gear replacement. Love every video

i did an apprenticeship a few years ago in a porsche dealership and we did a service on a first gen cayenne s belonging to a forest ranger. It had 392.000km and was still running strong besides being constantly offroaded

I've seen some well-sorted older Cayenne V8s outfitted for off-road duty. It was surprisingly capable for what was once a high end Mommy Mobile.
  • I use to be a Doug guy. But once i found these guys i just can't even listen to his voice anymore. These guys are the perfect balance of fun and information. Love these vs videos!
  • Mad Mats, new character! You guys are the greatest car reviewers/entertainers, exactly what we need right now.
  • As an owner of a 2009 Cayenne this is SPOT ON. The back of the seats, lift gate, build quality. Everything you guys said is absolutely true. I was laughing to how relatable and true the review was. You 2 are the best!
  • Im a former mechanic. That 10k Porsche will be the most expensive car you ever bought
  • @MatthewGaither
Old school Cayenne's are pretty great off-roaders actually. And I would say they have a lot more personality than the new ones. Great video, team!
  • @paulwest9474
Mad Mats with the paintball was truly hilarious, I seldom laugh out loud at stuff on YT, but now im wiping away tears !. You guys are terrific
  • @Thecarbonhero
The humour and quality you guys bring has gotten so good recently. I don’t recall the last time I laughed out loud at a YouTube video. Legitimately feels like I’m watching top gear Canadian edition.

They should always include an asterisk on the old car price as there seems to be a noticeable difference in the price they found it for and the price listed after the video becomes popular.

I drove a 2008 Cayenne S 4.8as my first car and had to get rid of it after 5 years last year and man did seeing this video take me back to some good memories especially the back of the drivers seat falling into the backseat🤣. Quite the handful of problems but when everything was running smoothly it was one of the greatest first cars to exist
  • @SpeedCafeGarage
I work at Porsche, and i will happily say, the new Cayenne S is amazing. Bringing back the V8 for the S model was a big win for us. And on top of that, no lithium ion battery! Thank god.
  • @marijnderuiter
I am so psyched! I literally bought a 2007 with 80000km on the clock yesterday and then this video comes out and proves I made the right decision. Also mine was 5% of the original price here in Malaysia thanks to heavy taxes. I got one with regular suspension because 15 years later the price of a new set of air suspension from Porsche costs more than the car, it's very likely to break soon and recons or Chinese will also break within 6 months. So to all other prospective buyers; find one without PDCC!

I drive an 09 cayenne, had the headlights replace to get rid of the fog. Still runs amazingly and has a lot of underrated bells and whistles for the price. Also the front end is way more attractive than the current cayenne. Mine is black on black and it looks like it just came out of the factory paint and leather wise
  • @BeerBourbonBaits
The head shot!! I felt the pain. Great intro and ad, as always! These cheap vs expensive episodes are what the car internet needs.
