at some point, REPLACING ingredients with "pro substitutions" feels like cheating. Making a gluten free equivalent = ok. "i'm gonna make my own candied cherries RATHER than transform the ingredient given = cheating
  • @Jejpi23
They should take a Michelin star chef and prank Frank. I would love to hear him saying "With Frank recipe i have simpler ingredients".
  • @sherimarvin5938
I want to see how the cost increases when the pro chef fancies up the recipe

To start, Lani's vanilla extract is more expensive than all of Daniel's ingredients.
  • @DrBrangar
The gluten-free substitution was fine, because graham crackers are just graham crackers, but the cherry topping substitution was a step too far. the point of this is to use chef skills on easy ingredients to elevate them, not just sub out everything for better versions

I love what she's done with the cheesecake, but like she literally changed 70% of the recipe
  • You should apologise for not having Steven in a cheesecake video it would have been hilarious
  • @TheBeccaLynniS
It always bums me out that the professional chefs don't actually use most of the ingredients from the home cook's box. I'd love the see them work with the actual ingredients- like channeling Rie's Make It Fancy!!!

"Because if this falls apart, I will cry. I will cry on the show" Honestly, what a mood.
  • Seriously, why did the pro chef substitute so many of Daniel's ingredients with her own fancy ingredients to make her cake just another costly cheese cake? And why is this a legit episode even after that!
  • @ninamoler1880
The last video I watched, Frank only used the cheap ingredients provided and elevated them to make a lovely chicken pot pie. I thought that was more enjoyable and demonstrated his creativity and skill, and I learned from both chefs.

So to recap, for Lani's "17 dollar" cheesecake you also need to get Frozen cherries, Gelatin, a jar of maraschino cherries, Kosher salt, gluten free flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, molasses, honey, and milk? Want to tell us what the price was after that entire bag of groceries?
  • @ethanlong1157
This reminds me of when Stephen put half a cheesecake in his pancakes
  • @Nomski.
$97 cheesecake but no half a pancake in it. Stephen would be mad
  • @srip31
I love how the home cook is funny but is actually trying to get it right.
  • @ColinRichardson
Can we have a new rule, ZERO additions and ZERO removals from the ingredients. I hate it when the pro chefs keep adding more and more and more and more stuff.. She might as well just keep her ingredients
  • Im getting a tad annoyed on how the chefs keep cheating... Is it that hard to work with whats given to you? You don't see the regulars pull out for example jam bc they dont wanna make marmelade!?
  • Love how for the last few months the "inexpensive" models being presented continually have things added that'll jack up the price significantly from where it was originally
  • @amandaheck7897
Lani just did whatever she wanted and pretty much ignored Daniels ingredients. Pointless to call it a $17 cheesecake when so many of the ingredients weren't even included in the exchange.
  • @Adrelamusia
We've literally gone from this show having a pro chef coming up with a solution to handle common ingredients, to having a pro chef purposefully get ingredients she can't use so that she doesn't have to. I will keep complaining because I loved this show when i appeared genuine, but now you're not even trying to hide how manufactured it is. The pro chef is just gonna do whatever, regardless of whether the ingredients they got fit into their fantasy.
