We have not ever framed anything in our lives with the exception of the chicken coop we built at my moms house a couple months ago. Today is day one of framing our own house and diving head first into the world of construction. We add a new team member to the team and get to work by the end of this video you'll see some differences even though we hoped to have accomplished more...

It’s a Just Enough house. Which is a lot wiser and more reasonable than a Tiny House, really.
  • @NoviMonaè
Anyone ever root for people you don't know, but feel you know and just want them to win...no just me? I just love watching you 2. You 2 are some of the most genuine people I have seen here on YT.

Trent & Allie, the build is looking great. I noticed while framing your first walls, (which look great). That when you nailed the top plate on you nailed in what is called the field. The open area between the studs. I highly recommend that when nailing the top plate, nail only over the studs. This will come in very handy later. Because when drilling holes through the top plates for plumbing and electrical, or anything else. You will not be hitting nails, causing your drill to rip out of your hand or dulling your drill bits or blades. Trust me you will be very happy. Old retired carpenter. Just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

When I grew up in the 50’s families were raised in “war time houses” 660 square feet. In 1949 my Dad put a basement in. Never meant to be permanent, but the house still stands and is lived in today.
  • It is your little house and you are building it yourself. That is all that matters.
  • @jackbyrd381
My wife and I lived on a boat for 7 years. You guys lived in a van for a long time. This 'little' home will be quite comfortable. The fun of building it, though, cannot be denied.
  • @patlsmith404
It’s your home and call it whatever you want. Building it yourself is something to be proud of.
  • Saw Horses might be a Great idea for when you are sawing each board so you don’t accidentally cut your leg or foot. Your small home 🏡 will be so nice.
  • @bryan17293
Kevin is a cool inspiration and builds confidence in others.

Trent and Allies," Home sweet home" is all that matters. I think the size is perfect!
  • @SkipODonnell
Stoked you guys are bringing Brandon on. Not only will it help with your house in the winter, but it will help save your marriage!
  • @karenjacobs9728
Technically, 1000 sq. ft. is not considered a "tiny" home. You could call it a small home but the bottom line is: if it's what you want and you're comfortable with it, then it's right for you. I think it will be GREAT!
  • Technically the definition of a "tiny house" is 499 SQF or less.😊 But maybe you could call it the "Little" House on the Mountain?😂
  • @annuello1
Who the hell cares if its a "tiny house" or a whooping great monster house its yours and your building it yourselves from the ground up so go team Trent and Allie its looking awesome already
  • @cindy2252
Allie, it's the toolbelts!! Seems when men put on their tool belts and there's a lot of wood and nails involved, they get all giddy. Kind of like when women get together to bake 6 kinds of Christmas cookies. The butter, sugar, and flour come out, the aprons go on, and we get giddy, or is that after the 2nd round of hot buttered rums are prepared??🤔I'm glad you have some helping hands and everyone's happy!! I'm so excited to follow along as you build your cabin!😁
  • @wadeharris3037
Great to see the progress!! As a builder of 25+years I get a tickle watching you guys learn. Keep up the good work, and smart to bring on help.
  • @debbiputman3482
Yes, technically a “tiny house” is less than 400sft, but you knew that. Allie, I’ve lived in a 900sft house for 30+ years & raised both daughters in it. It’s a good size! Actually, it’s a little big now that it’s just me; I quit using the upstairs, so I’m basically living in 500sft.
  • @livinglife8333
The guys working on our house were so astounded and grateful when I pulled up daily with a hot meal once a week. 😊. Nothing super fancy just like a pot of spaghetti and salad.. I heated bricks in the oven and put them in the bottom of our cooler laid a towel then my pot of food, paper plates and forks. Different cooler with water and salad and dressings. Just an idea for a thank you for them.
  • @amsbmp
Its not the size of the house that matters. Its love that went into it that counts. Its the perfect amount of house 🏠 necessary to make memories, share the love with others. Its perfect 👌. Your being blessed each and every day. And the best part, your sharing it with the world 🌎. How awesome is that. Thank you.
  • @lordgarak
It's a small home not a tiny home. Tiny homes are like 250sqft. Have the excavator move the lumber closer to the home and put it in the order it will be needed. Never do what a machine can do for you. An hour paying for the machine operator will save may hours of lugging lumber.
