I’m very pleased that I have more music to listen to while writing my novels! This will be perfect for writing my fantasy villain.
  • @blank7508
This seems fitting for a heroic character that makes seemingly cruel/evil decisions for a greater good while not caring how it affects his reputation
  • “You slew the demon, you killed all the monsters, you fought all the villains. Why does the sun not shine anymore?”

  • "I have hunted for a thousand years. I now stand at the edge of eternity, given an endless life I did not ask for. All the darkness, all the shadows in the hearts of men... I have seen it all and i have quashed it all. Yet, I now see the true black, the unending stain that the souls of gods and monsters have made on this world. I will once more hunt, to the precipice of entropy, those who continually paint with their dark inks. The very gods dye even the innocent with their sins, and i will not stop until all is made bright in my eyes"

Devour the dark, absorb it, purify it, then save others through absorbtion's counterpart: Infusion.
  • Wrote this while listening, Enjoy: Here I tasted cup of death, and felt the sting of winter's breath, Here I laid in Stony tomb, burdened by the weight of doom But that alone would not defeat, the ancient will in my heart's beat For even knowing certain death, so my forebearers still drew breath Too stubborn to admit defeat, Too fearsome eyes for Death's to meet So then I raised up my head, wreathed with Frost from halls of dread And taking Death as my own crown, set to bring my dark foes down All that lives shall surely die, Make your death such that others cry For surely better is to be, An example of valor and bravery Than to die a coward, trembling, At the thought of your ending No, make a stand and forge the path, And make all Evil feel your wrath For though all that lives shall surely die, So too shall others follow behind Consider well your acts in life, All of time is endless strife Do all that is Right and True, So those after can outshine you

I've been writing poetry since I was 10 and recently I've started a practice of listening to a soundtrack and write whatever thoughts come to my mind. I call that series as "Youni-Verse". Here's what I wrote while listening to this - He who Devoured the Dark Walking in the land of the dead There’s a song in the head That keeps humming What happened to all these corpses? Where have their souls fled? What’s wrong with bloodshed? How can the devil earn his daily bread? If he silences the red? It’s not what he’s made for He’s not designed to savor sweetness He’s crafted, like art To tear apart the hearts To become evil, in his purest way He desires to devour the dark He indeed has the spark To haunt the devil himself He cannot be nice. It’s against nature, Not at all his signature Let darkness guide him To his destination that defined His nomenclature. The end is just the beginning for him. Where the world buries their pains, He draws pleasant gains. He dances to the tunes Of melancholy Beyond the light Where darkness reigns His mind, body and soul. This is his destiny, To take everything in And weep within But remember pal, He will orchestrate The deadliest of kills With his magnificent skills The one that you will enjoy As you breathe your last.

the ethereal singing describes the fall.. the grace and splendor of what was.... now forgotten and scarce, we fight in shadow. We who were cast down. we who sought to end the long night. We failed. But if we cannot have victory, NO ONE WILL.

It's funny that you posted this when you did. The D&D campaign I'm running is on a break for the Holidays, so I've been writing more for my worlds lore and history. One of the heroes of myth and fable in my world is known as He Who Devours the Dark. His actual name has been long forgotten, but his actions have not.
  • He, shrouded in black armour, stood at the edge of the village, taking in the brutal aftermath of his devastation. His eyes were dark and soulless as he surveyed the smouldering ruins of the homes and the mutilated bodies of the villagers littering the streets. He had come to this village in pursuit of a monstrous creature that had been plaguing the people for months. And now, he had succeeded in his mission, devouring the strength of his enemy and leaving the village in a state of utter destruction. As he walked through the village, the villagers trembled in fear and disgust at the sight of him. They knew who he was and what he had done. They knew that he was a monster hunter, a being who derived his power from consuming the very essence of his enemies. He paid them no heed, his thoughts consumed with the next monster he would hunt. He had grown stronger from this battle, and he was ravenous for more. As he left the village behind, he could feel the villagers' screams of terror lingering in his ears. But he didn't care. He was a monster hunter, and nothing would stand in his way. He would continue to hunt and devour, becoming more powerful with each victory, until he was the ultimate predator in the land. And then, nothing would be able to stop him. He was the monster among monsters, and the villagers knew that if he ever returned, he would not leave a single soul alive. They called him, "He Who Devoured The Dark".

This randomly came into my feed. That beat in the first minute is so menacing. Wow
  • @cr-df5le
Love it how everyone gets inspired to write and create stories and poems from just listening to music. That's when you know you got a good song haha
  • We have to fight in the darkness to defend the light, sometimes we even have to become the darkness itself.
  • @Mother_Harlot
" Why do you fear me, brethren of mine? Aren't we both humans, even if my erstwhile human visage is now reduced to that of a beast? Fear not, child. People always call me the "He who devoured the dark", but that also means I was the one who brought light forth. ... Oh, so you seek balance, and I surmise that also means you want to end me. Your pain is my pain, your joy is my joy, child. I couldn't bear the burden of having ended someone of my kin even if it meant keeping the dark away from all humanity. ... Ok, then you leave me with no other choice. I will wage with all my might, so there is no reason to treat me with kid's gloves. Just remember, if during our bout you realise your idea of balance strays from the wellbeing of humanity, you can surrender and I'll let you go."
  • The knight rose from his wooden seat, his armor rusted with years of battle and self repair. Yet it is a beacon of strength and will. “I walk this land, finding my own path in this dark labyrinth.” The knight begins, “I walk, wield my blade for those I loved and lost. Those who look up to me. Those who frown upon me. They never sway my will, the whispers never sway my will, I, am Power. I am Will. I am a Knight. True to the word. Living personification of the word warrior. But, I am humble. I admit to my wrongs, I admit to my adherent need as a human. With a beating heart. I sometimes wish to give in, to lay down and not rise again. It'd be the easier choice, it is hard to live my life sometimes, But who else would they all look up when I’m dead and gone. So, While I'm here. I will. Not. Give. Into. The. Dark. I will devour it.”

Of one sentinel who guard a forgotten trail Of stone skin and molten blood Born of magic hand and golden sun Its hand wields spear of light Its helm crafted of great might Its armor of steel and cloth Its heart of brilliant rubie
  • That subtle sword sound is just so cool. So happy I stumbled upon this music, epic! :D
