People need to realize. Being offended doesn’t mean you’re right.
  • McEnroe is such an honest guy. When that lady stated "I'm just waiting for you to apologize", his answer was simply, uh no.
  • Serena Williams was probably surprised by her loss to a man ranked so low. She even admitted they purposely chose someone that low b/c they thought he'd been easy to beat and it'd be a lopsided win for her. She was very shocked that he crushed her and readily admitted that men - even less talented men - have a HUGE advantage over women in sports. Seriously, I was impressed by her honesty and people need to shut up about the whole thing.
  • The same year Chris Evert won the French Open and number one in the world, she played a practice match against her older brother! Drew was a member of the Auburn University men’s tennis team. He beat her on clay 6-0, 6-0!

McEnroe didn't say sorry is satisfying.

Mans played golf and drank some beers with some friends then beat both Williams sisters in tennis handily in the same day. What an absolute legend.

The worst part about the MacEnroe comment was that he got so much hate for it but Serena agreed with him. It’s a good publicity stunt but no one who actually plays tennis would ever say that the women and men are equal. Don’t believe me, look at Serena’s interview about it.

"75 year old bobby riggs confidentally taking on 19 year old teenager" 💀

“Do you think Serena Williams is the best in the world?” “No. Would you like to see?” “No, but would you like to apologize?” The media is a joke 😂😂
  • If women were on the same level as men athletically, there wouldn’t be “women’s sports”.
  • @MrPaulMorris
Serena Williams herself said in interview that she would stand no chance against similarly ranked male players; "If I played Andy [Murray] I'd be lucky to take a single game. Men's and women's tennis are totally different sports."
  • The match few remmember is the 1992 battle between legends Jimmy Connors and Martina Navratilova. Connors was 40, past his prime and Navratilova was 35, and still a force in the game. The court was specially painted so that Martina had the full court while Jimmy only had the singles court, and on top of that Martina had two serves while Jimmy had only one. Jimmy defeated Martina 75 62. Why was he only allowed the singles court and why onlyone serve. One thing is for certain, if Martina hasd won, we would have never heard the last of it, there would have been books, films and documentaries.

Not a single person who truly knows tennis would seriously say the #1 woman, whoever she was, could beat a male pro ranked in the top 600. Hell, she wouldn’t be able to beat most top Division 1 male players. Pro level males just serve too hard, hit too hard, and move too fast. It’s not sexist, it’s biology.

I will always enjoy the fact that the Williams sisters claimed they'd beat any man outside the top 200, and a guy outside the top 200, after 2 beers, crushes both of them.

Serena was at her best when she admitted the difference. I've seen the good and the bad from her, so it's nice to see that she's human just like everyone else.
  • So to sum up the matches: 1. The old man one against a young woman. 2. The man lost, but he threw the match to win a bet. 3. The rules handicapped the man. 4. The man was a low ranked player, but won anyway.

He wasn't flippant toward the serena, he was flippant toward the interviewer, who was pretending not to know that female tennis players can't beat male tennis players. She wanted him to play along, for him to also pretend not to know this, and he refused.
  • @johnnymac6242
I think it's very clear Bobby Riggs threw the match and bet against himself. His performance against King was completely different from the one with Court
  • Imagine asking a man a question, and him answer it with complete honesty, and then people get offended and ask you if you would like to apologize for your honesty...
