This is a favorite pattern of mine and I have made many for family and friends. I personally find having the filter pocket at my mouth uncomfortable. I prefer the pocket opening at the bottom which is done by putting that seam in the middle instead of the edge before sewing and cutting the triangles. The pocket seam should be behind the small triangle drawn on the center of the material. Just don’t sew it closed when you sew around the edges.

I've lost count on how many of these face masks I've made for people - in all different sizes. They love them. They love how lightweight they are, that they can add a filter in the pocket, and more than anything they love that they can talk and breathe in them. The fabric doesn't touch their nose and mouth. No one likes to suck in the fabric when they breathe! So I just wanted to say thank you for your very easy to follow tutorials. The masks always come out beautifully.
  • I’ve made all patterns for masks. This is the best of the best. I like this better than the 5 dart. I modify the eye area by making a half moon scallop with the midpoint of 1/2 inch. From the nose to the temple. I wear glasses and found the straight line under the eye rode up too high. I get compliments all day on this mask. It’s breathable, no fogging on glasses and comfortable enough to tolerate 8 hr days. Thank you for your brilliant pattern.

Yea! A breathable duck style mask that fits well; is EASY to make; filter is easy, too; and is attractive! I've been making masks all year, and am so happy to drop the intricate patterns for this one! Find it requires small tweaks for personal needs such as, I put a dart in the bottom for my narrow chin; will enlarge nose for people with bigger ones.... But these adjustments are easy to do too, and so worth adding a few minutes of time to a great universal pattern anyone can make! Thank You!!
  • Thank you for this tutorial, I have anxiety and the feeling of a face mask pressed against my face makes me feel anxious as I feel like I cant breathe. This face mask is perfect and a it doesn't fog up my glasses either! Thank you!!
  • Great mask for breathing! I wear my S to the gym, my husband wears M. I also put a small tuck in the chin area on the S for a better fit. Am making this style for friends and family now that masks are part of our lives for the foreseeable future! Thanks for sharing!

I love this mask. It doesn't stick to your nose and mouth and is very comfortable. Thank you for sharing your design. And it's easy to make as I am not a seamtress at all!

Thank you once again for an easy to follow demonstration on making masks. It is very much appreciated. Kindest regards
  • Super easy to do! I made 3 in an hour and I’m no pro with my sewing machine. I used stretchy hair bows for the ears instead of elastic. Thanks so much!
  • I figured it out and I was making it way harder than it needed to be! LOL! Thank you all for helping me! I LOVE IT!!! It is so very comfortable. I live in the Southern United States and it gets pretty darn hot in the summer time, so this will be a life saver! Thank you for sharing this wonderful pattern!
