TUTORIAL:    • How to Draw your Own Face Mask Patter...

DISCLOSURE: *** this is NOT medical GRADE face mask***. It is a suggestion of how to sew THE VERY BEST homemade fabric Face Mask with filter pocket. CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission. CDC also advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.

  • I love when people use fun fabrics. Just because we have to wear them everyday, it doesn't mean we can't have fun. Show your personality. With a handful of fat quarters one can create a variety of masks.
  • Daisy, I got into making masks when this whole COVID thing happened. Through lots of trial and error, I came up with my own pattern. I came across your video-with the skull faces, and I am making my masks so similarly to yours, however, you are a much better seamstress than I. I am in the process of trying your pattern and will post a pic when done.

I just got on the comments things and saw that there were dislikes! Let me tell all those people, you are out of your minds! As I started to say, this is the first time using a sewing machine since the seventh grade so I’m learning how to use the machine as well as making a machine. Daisy has been overly kind to offer her patters as well as for those who don’t have a printer, gives the coordinates in inches and centimeters. Who does this? I’ll tell you who, someone who cares that people watching her and taking her invitations to print her patterns, etc. Daisy, your mask is one if not the BEST I have seen. You make them with the correct amount of protective fabric pieces, it fits correctly, CDC states fit is the most important factor. Anyway, wanted to say thanks for the time and for sharing your pattern. I’m going to find your Facebook page and post my pic there!
  • @nitanice
I was questioning my sanity watching so many mask-making videos, but I usually learn something. In this one, using a zig-zag stitch for the pipe cleaner was elegantly brilliant. Thank you so much for the video!
  • I cannot thank you enough!! I am about to dive in head over heels and begin a small venture in making and selling face masks, and accessories, as well as odd jobs like house cleaning, and walking dogs to make an extra dollar. I have common variable immunodeficiency so I am unable to work!! however with resilience and creativity I fully intend to overcome barriers set in place because of covid 19. Thank you.
  • @lit73
me and my husband are both nurses with little children, we would like to thank you for sharing your knowledge and the FREE PATTERN . I will be trying my best to make one today since it’s my day off after working 3days in a row. Again thank you and BE SAFE 🙏🏼

When I am searching for information I always view several tutorials. I scan and go to the ones with the eye catcher headline, i.e., “the best, the fastest”, etc. So I have wasted my valuable viewing time with -ah, no. I will tell you that your tutorial is not deceptive and is in the realm of true reality. It is truly faster ‘cause I have used it, not to mention you have been generous enough to share your patterns. Thank-you for your generosity to help those of us that are trying to learn and help others as well.
  • Excellent tutorial! Thank you for your generosity in sharing your expertise :-) I have made almost 200 masks so far and tried almost all patterns. Can't wait to try this one!
With the pandemic, most businesses prefer non cash transactions. This means not many of us are carrying small bills or coins. This has left the poor and homeless, who depend on pan handling for survival. So instead, I have been sewing 3 layer masks since March, and giving them to people who call the streets home, here in Ottawa, Ontario.
  • @pennycoates2800
Just love her!! She explains everything so well that it comes out right the first time! she makes sewing these masks almost enjoyable!! Who would have every thought we would be making masks to keep safe in 2020?????
  • @mayson8616
I'm always so amazed when people like Daisy think in three dimensions when it comes to fabrics- I was really confused when she sewed the inner fabric to the outside and then she flipped it!!! I never would have thought it would work like that
  • Also since I don’t have a printer I literally made a graph using a ruler and marked each point according to the medium template and cut it out on paper and it came out perfect!
  • Thank you so much for sharing your instructions for free. I have been making masks for teacher friends of mine and others' children, with fabrics I already had at home. As my husband has had little work since NZ's first lockdown and I am a teacher aide, so school is closed owing to the latest lockdown, we don't have one cent to spare. A lot of friends have given us excess vegetables and fruit etc from their gardens, so this has been a way that I can do them a favour in return, that doesn't cost us any money. Very kind and generous of you, in a time when many others are making money off the situation, regardless of the needs of others, and often hiking prices because of the shortages, which I find completely immoral. Great instructions, too. I like the way that the video is real time, so you can get an idea of how long it takes to make each one. Thank you, thank you, thank you.x
  • @daddiowiiu3275
What’s with the dislikes? I dont see anything not to like about this. Thank you for making this video this will help a guy that never done this before and I’m sure after a few tries I will make em as good as your finished product.
  • Daisy I cannot thank you enough, many many blessings to you. My grandbabies will now have masks too. I'm a disabled Nurse and it isn't as easy for me to sew as it used to be and making m own patterns is frustrating. Thank You Daisy for making this tutorial.
  • @lynnriley5044
You are the best. You point, talk, then, you say the same again only in different words. Even the simplest novice can understand your instructions. You are a great instuctor. I thank you and appreciate the time you spent making this you tube video. You helped me so much. Thanks again...
  • I don't understand the dislikes. This is an AMAZING tutorial and pattern. I am SO impressed with myself making this mask!!! And it is all thanks to this tutorial.
  • @dorispowell7643
Finally I am defeated in trying for days to download your pattern. For some reason I am bombarded with so many advertisements that I can’t get to the pattern. The tutorial is very good and that is the mask I would like to sew but will try to draw my own pattern.
  • @ktreznin5538
This is so awesome! I was using your older video and adding nose wires as well as the rope/loop method myself. I'm so glad there's a tutorial for it for other people now!!!
  • @girlthangya
These hair elastics as traditional elastic, is pure genius! So much more comfortable and cheaper than elastic some sellers are scalping right now!
    Thank you for sharing ☺️
  • I am a novice sewer and this mask was easy to make and looks beautiful even with a little uneven stitching. My mask turned out so great I'm going to make smaller ones for my children. Thank you!
