Seeing visual representation of how much land this war covered is crazy to me and helps me better understand the term world war.

"Here have some weapons " Most said sentence in american history

“So Hitler kind of shot himself in the foot there.” awkward silence “...Just the foot for now.”

My grandpa (Italian) used to tell me stories about the war, he told me that all the Axis Powers were involved in Operation Barbarossa. His Brother, who was older at the time, was sent to fight against the soviets. The last letter he received from his brother said "Dear mother, it's so cold here! When I'll come back home, have some hot soup and warm socks ready please!" He never returned.

The way Alan Turing was treated after the war was horrendous. His fate was tragic.
  • When world war 3 happens the target is to protect Oversimplified cause if he dies who will make a funny summary video about it

The rapid modernization and industrialization through WW2 is crazy and very hard to wrap my head around. At the beginning of the war, armies consisted of WW1 and even Prussian era technology (especially france) and towards the end, you can see technologies common even in the 70’s. 🤯

My great grandfather was a bomber pilot, shot down during the invasion of France, he survived and was captured by the Germans. Sent to a Stelag and lived through the ordeal, he never talked about the war or his experiences directly, but he was writing a book before he died about his entire life and the lives of his comrades. I got to read his first draft of the book about 5 months before he passed. It’s unfathomable the things that happened to him, and the things he witnessed. Every time I ever hear anything about ww2 I think of brave, strong individuals like him who gave all of us our freedom all across the world.

I like listening to other people's story about how their grandparents lived and also fought during the war. My grandparents have long been dead before I was even born. I would have really loved to hear their stories. Although my grandpa probably didn't fight because he wasn't a soldier. I still would have loved to hear their story about how life was under Dutch and Japanese occupation.

It’s been almost 6 years since this video, but I just want to congratulate Oversimplified on the insane quality of his videos. While he definitely does what he sets out to do (very oversimplifies the topics), it is still clear to me that he is very knowledgeable on what he talks about. In the past few years I’ve started reading a lot more than I used to, and I just discovered from my current book that the whole “Japan doesn’t want to miss the victory bus” was an actual slogan adopted by Japanese commanders after Hitler’s victories in Europe. Just prior to his conquering of France, Japanese high command was seriously considering diminishing their presence in china, but German victory completely changed their mindset, leading to their eventual offensives. A small detail that I always remembered from this video, so it’s very cool to me that you based it off of something very real, and goes to show how knowledgeable you really are Oversimplified. Keep up the good work!

The “who’s driving this bus” caught me off guard that was way to random and funny LOLL
