Thank you for including so many of my recordings and compositions in this playlist, Halidon! Love the picture of the Charles Bridge in Prague, btw - complements the atmosphere perfectly :)
  • To anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life. ๐Ÿ™

Itโ€™s currently dark and raining. Iโ€™m sitting on my porch listening to this, sipping on Earl Grey tea, and writing my book. The perfect vibe.
  • @neggit2063
These Dark Academia playlists have done a better job getting me into classical music than the any music teacher in school as a kid
  • @mamalinyx
This playlist is saving me in the dark and gloomy days of my PhD studies.

I am alone.. 9:30pm, laying on my sofa, entranced by the music and the image on my tv screen.. My mind is lost in my own imaginings.. thoughts of people Iโ€™ve known, loved & lost..experiences that were all just moments in time..now forever gone, but for my memory..
  • Dark academia tracks possess an otherworldly charm, beckoning listeners to explore the enigmatic realms of mystery, romance, and intellectual curiosity
  • @magdalenae3723
In one way or another, something magical happens when you listen classical music. You disconnect yourself from reality, living in the moment of an illusion that feels like eternity. And in that void you realize that, nothing lasts. Love, passion, pain, grief, regret, anger. You become present. This realisation is naturally so honest and pure that brings you clarity. I still manage to explain this bizarre state of a frozen mind processing so many emotions in such peace. I am grateful for this fresh experience.
  • I am in love with gray clouds, rainy days, and foggy skies. There is a ethereal beauty that comes with the sights, sounds, and physical sensations that come with such a setting. The cold breeze gently wrapping around you, comforting but in a somber way. When you breathe, there is a subtle cool moist that feels as if it fills the path through your nose and wind pipe. The harshness of the droplets of rain as they come crashing into puddles of water, layered over stone or cement as theyโ€™ve travelled through hundreds of meters from the skyโ€ฆ It gives a feeling of sharp fragility to the plummeting water, a symphony of notes you could attribute to the harsh percussion of a piano key. I am a person who only sees rain during the monsoon season, as where I live, the normal sights include coarse sand, saguaro cacti, and heat reflections that only exist in the distance. Which is to say, I live in a desert, albeit an urbanized one. It is always such a sight to see big clouds in the distance, whether they are light and fluffy like poodle dog fur, or a blanket of ethereal gray. I wish I could experience rainy skies forever.
  • Why there is such dark name for heartwarming music and one of the most romantic scenes of Prague? Itโ€™s not fair. All these compositions fill your heart with sweet aching, taking you far away from dark thoughts.
  • @SirOtter1
Being a certified Auld Phart, I had never come across the term Dark Academia. I now realize what I have been for 63 years. Thanks for clearing that up.
  • @relixmeme
My eyes are literally watering. I do not know how to express it at the moment. I'm not getting enough sleep because of depression and anxiety, listening to it is such a great relief. Sad how we're missing on such simple and beautiful things available in nature.
  • @Vetrarbreytin
As a harpsichordist, I can't be but moved and yet a bit smiling when I hear these Baroque pieces played with such a Romantic touch. People who don't pay attention or just are unaware of it haven't realised how deeply "Romantic" Baroque composers could be in the expression of their sensibility. If you are keen on Romanticism but are eager to discover the Baroque time, I highly recommend you to listen to Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's works which are an invitation to the universe of Pre-Romanticism spirit at the time of Late Baroque (probably the most talented Pre-Romantic composer of his time in my humble opinion). Be also aware of the infinite "intimate rรฉpertoire" made for solo or a few instruments which is very similar to the Romantic composers' conception of music. I'm not a specialist but I'm sure one could find the same musical ideas even earlier back to Rinascimento or Middle Ages. All that to say that sensitiveness and the depth of emotions through music are basically timeless and that we, folks from 2021, are so lucky to have the possibility to experience them all despite the enigmas about their genuine interpretation which probably distort their original nature. It's indeed a paradise lost but I'm the happiest seeker of lost paradises.

To the person reading this. I know you're tired with all of this, but you should know. You did a good job. You are great. You deserve to be happy
  • As a dark academic myself, one who professes to his students all that shuns the light, I support this compellation with all my black heart.
  • ...we may not all speak the same language, but music is a language we all understand. Have a nice night ๐Ÿ’“
  • Chopin's OP. 28 no.4 is by far the darkest in my opinion. I think we are extremely lucky o be able to hear this anytime we want, back in the 1800's people would listen to this once or twice in their lifetime!!
  • @MedicineMusic
As the clouds cover the sun and sky.. the luminance decreases and rain starts to fall.. so the streets start to open and nobody in sight. I feel bliss, I feel alive.
