My parents are brother and sister | Life Stories

Publicado 2024-09-05
Teresa knew very little about her birth parents and had no plans until her nephew was born and she began to think about her own future children.

Teresa realised she knew nothing about her own early years and decided there would be no harm in getting to know where she came from.

However, what she learned led her into two decades of trying to cover up the truth of where she came from.

Speaking as part of Life Stories, Fabulous’ new YouTube series which documents the extraordinary lives of ordinary people, Teresa says: “My childhood was a very happy one.

“I didn't come to my parents until I was 2 and a half going on 3.

“They already had two boys older than me. In those days people weren't really told much about their background to the children they were adopting.

“I think all my parents knew was that I had an Irish mother who was unmarried and had given me up for adoption straight away.”

  • I’m so sorry. You were meant to be born and your life has been a blessing to many people. Take care.
  • It's a miracle to have had your wonderful adoptive parents. ❤ You turned out lovely.
  • I feel her pain. I was 'adopted' (1964 but 'in the household as a 'foster baby' since birth ) and found out decades later that my 'sister' was my bio mother and my 'adoptive' father was my bio father and my 'adoptive' mother was my Grandmother! I spent EVERY summer at my 'sister's' and HATED IT. Finding years later my niece & nephew were my half siblings... For as long as I can remember I NEVER wanted to get married and have kids....
  • Amazing lady. Such a test in her life and such a courage. You look amazingly healthy and you’re certainly bright. You have led a great life. Very inspiring.
  • I am so glad you told your parents, and that they were fully supportive of you.
  • You are a beautiful woman!!! And God loves you!! Thank you for being brave to tell your story.❤❤❤

A remarkable story. A remarkable woman. You’ve done yourself proud.
  • You are a beautiful person. Why didn't you consider adoption? You have the experience of what can happen to a child being brought up by parents who loved you for you (not from where you came from). Whatever your reasoning for not adopting, your nieces and nephews are blessed to have you as an auntie.
  • You are a beautiful soul, elegant and elequent...I am an adotive mother and occasionally I remind my sons that their parents gave them the greatest gift of all....life.
  • You were meant to be born. You are such a loving and beautiful person. I am so sorry that you were burdened with this knowledge.
  • Goodness, this poor lady. That must be so hard to deal with, and she had to bear the brunt of it even when she didn't do anything wrong. Also, not for nothing, but those "parents" are crap. She is way better off without contact with them.
  • Sad all way, if only she talked to someone but it was meant to be. She has nothing to be shamed of.
  • Such a sad story I bet there’s many many more out there You are here for a reason ❤️those people don’t define you!
  • Sad story, but it has happy moments, too! She is really pretty and I bet her children would have ended up being good looking kids. It's too bad she didn't find a good man to snuggle and comfort with. I bet she's a wonderful Aunt and has a great heart ❤️. God Bless You!
  • I fully relate to the part at 5:41 when she speaks of not recognizing her own features in anyone. I received that magical gift with the birth of my son. It's mind blowing when you've spent a lifetime being your own island.

I feel so sorry for this lady. Stopping her dreams because of that
