ā€œNo punch. Why? Why is there no punch?ā€ Famous last words

For all who are gonna start Ippo now, start from the very beginning. This is one of the best stories ever told, great animation, memorable characters, freaking Takamura Mamoru- Its got heart. Watch it, you won't regret it

It may not of been the most complex anime in history or the most influential but goddamn did this series have top quality heart! Thank you, George Morikawa!
  • organs ruptured, bones broken, blood everywhere: ā€œHeā€™s fine.ā€ ā€œWhat was that? A BREEZE?!ā€ ā€œSee?ā€

The sounds of tearing metal really complete the scene, like his fists are almost invincible. Truly, incredible.

there is a reason Hajime No Ippo is 1 of the greatest sports anime ever, and this is just 1 of many examples.

Mad respect for taking the first punch at 0:58, getting hit in the liver can put you on the ground even if its a lighter punch, not to mention a beast of a man like Kamogawa.
  • @MasterChild117
Kamogawa learned from the Americans during the war. If you're gonna drop a nuke you better drop two.
  • @GearWukong
Kamogawa was like Ippo with Takamura's mindset. Terrifying.

My favorite part is how it shows how much a single mans words in a match can take a man on the brink out of his stupor, his pain, his agony. Even with the brutal hit he took moments before, he instinctively reacted when "Sergeant! Guard!" reached his ears.

Everytime I watch this anime, I rekindle my fighting spirit, seeing those emerald eyes and the level of animation to boot, Hajime No Ippo is a truly great piece of art!

Anderson: ā€œWhy is there no punch?ā€ Kamogawa: ā€œFETCH ME THEIR SOULSā€

Man I love this this series and the boxing match are so cool itā€™s just like one piece when it comes to long running series

the way the va sounds makes it seem like their voice is dead, and its absolutely PERFECT for this scene, especially for the "You know what?" part.

Yo "Hajime No Ippo" is my favorite sports anime ever, The animation and the impact of each punch that hits is so beautifully done easily my top 1 haven't seen a single sports anime that can take it's place for me yet and it DEFINITELY won't change either.

I can't imagine the dread Anderson felt when the left almost broke him in two and he sees the right getting ready to fire.
