I use a glowforge pro for rapid prototyping and it's great. You can $500 off a Glowforge pro here: glowforge.com/stuffmadehere
I built this with the new Tormach 1300 PL, check it out: tormach.com/machines/plasma-tables.html

An automatic pool playing robot - how hard could it be? Turns out harder than I thought. It took me quite a while to work through all the difficulties of this project but when it all finally came together is so worth it. To my surprise the most interesting aspect of this project is using the cue to play real games of pool over the internet. Let me know if you think twitch plays billiards would be worthwhile...

“This is probably the most complex project that I’ve ever done” seems like he says this every video. That’s probably why they’re so great.

"This suggests I'm an idiot" *Me with half a pizza slice in my mouth*: "yeah how could you not see that issue, bro"
  • It seems to me the next logical step is to build a robot that moves the robo stick around the table as neccesary, hook that up to that play online website you build and then allow real people to play real pool against each other over the internet in some random cellar halfway across the globe.
  • 10:19 As a programmer I'm so happy that he managed to sum up the entire programming/coding process in a span of less than 5 minutes, seriously we aren't smart, we're just really really stubborn and huge masochists

This man did hundreds of hours of engineering and programming, make a whole freaking WEBSITE, and has masterful editing and animations in this video??? This is absolute top-notch quality and dedication sir. This channel will be at 10 million subs in no time!!!

This channel is helping fill the void in my soul after mythbusters ended
  • I rarely post on the Internet but there something that needs to be said. In life we get exposed to all kinds of different people.Finding you really gave me more faith that there are more people out there like you that are just as talented and creative. Having people like you out there helps me believe that it's a good time to be alive. Thank you.

If we had four of you working together, all of the worlds problems would be fixed.
  • “I want to enjoy the game of pool the way it was meant to be played” -Guy that made a robotic pool que that calculates the shot for you

After 50 years working with computers (software design and management) and 55 years simultaneously of playing pool (5 to 6 days a week - last 10 years). All I can say is. Man, you are a smooth running model of efficiency! A real joy to watch and learn from. Thank you. ps..... I have been married for over 50 years to the same 'dream girl'. Hope for you the same. Wow, I thought my workshop generated a lot of useless stuff. The joy is in the building it, not using it (knowledge of, not practice with).

6:01 I scanned the QR Code, it says: "you have too much time"

"The robot is not your kid, we've talked about this" killed me

This feels like a great way to connect with friends that have disabilities and can't normally play "real" pool.

Man, don't you ever sleep? That sounds like the kind of project you could pull off in a 5 man team over the course of a year, yet you do it on your own in a couple of weeks! That's incredible
  • If a team of twenty people did this, I would be impressed. But the fact that you could figure out all these different aspects of this complex problem by yourself is just crazy. You are a genius!
  • @randomdigress
That physical overlay via projection on a pool table will be fun!
