Hello Friends!
I'm so excited for you all to see this! Heather Mader and I used the same size canvas and color palette and I absolutely LOVE how both paintings turned out!
Our color palette was:
Burnt Orange
Deep Turquoise
Buff Titanium
24K Gold
Cadmium Red Light Hue
Van Dyke Brown
18x24 canvas
We both did ring pours, and some balloon rolls with some really beautiful results!
This was such a happy piece, I was so excited! Both because of our collab and the color palette!
My pouring medium was intentionally on the thick side because I knew I wanted nice separation of colors and rings, not cells or blending.
I used :
Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish
Golden's GAC 800
and Elmer's GlueAll
Water to consistency
and Floetrol

I had so much fun creating this painting, I played with the color palette for a few days before and was totally in love with the Golden's Burnt Orange.. such a deep versatile color! Really beautiful and bold but also so delicate where it plays with the gold or the cream color.. just dreamy! The contrast with the dark Van Dyke Brown was gorgeous, and the pop of color from the Deep Turquoise made me very happy and tied it all together. One of the most beautiful color palettes in my opinion, give it a try if you have not before.
I talk about our friendship in this video, about how we have inspired each other and both of us have grown as artists from our conversations and experiences.. I encourage you to reach out and talk to people, make some friends in our community! Its really nice to be able to talk to someone who 'gets it' and is working with the same materials. We have the technology today that allows us, even tho distance separates us, to still talk and video chat (and have painting playdates) simply by using a smart phone! Amazing and so cool!

I’m inspired to get out my turquoise jewelry tomorrow and live with the desert sunbirds ! And try to play with these colors. It’s so beautiful. Makes me homesick for my old life in Terlingua, Texas and the West Texas Chihuahua Desert ! Those colors!

Its fab, the wings of the bird look in motion. Its gorgeous. I actually saw the bird the other way - beak toward the ring. But i can see it the other way too. Thats the beauty of art!
