Politicians had years to prepare for these fires, mind boggling what is going on???

You cut funding for fire fighting forest services. The personnel are treated poorly. Your government is supposed to protect the provincial resources! Do not shed crocodile tears.

The AB govt is poorly prepared and seemingly has learned nothing about investing in prevention and emergency management. I’m so sad for Jasper and the animals, but I am not moved by this politician. Albertans should demand more from the UCP

So the town must be entirely gone based on her emotions … very sad day in Alberta.

It's so heartbreaking! Thoughts and prayers to those who are affected. Jasper is one of the most beautiful place in the world ❤

she's crying because she bears some level of responsibility for ruining AB-residents' lives

Notley saved Waterton from a similar fire. Smith lost Jasper, sending structural fire fighting equipment after the town was destroyed by fire. SO, a chic jacket that says Premier, and crocodile tears, are required.
  • This is so sad, I been to Jasper its a beautiful place… We did camping there…SO SO SAD!!😢😢
  • She like every politician continues to ignore the real issues. They all want to grow the economy at the expense of everything in the natural world. When will moderation become the norm......

I cried as im sure many have at the news. The fires have been painful and never ending. I hope we can start making plans to make our cities more fire resistant. Fire breaks are needed, we have to start being proactive in engineering our cities and environment to slow and detour the fires from our homes.

I live in an area where there is a ferry crossing on a lake that's 100km long. I'll never forget seeing photos of a deer that rode the ferry across to get away from the fire. Jasper park is basically an unfenced wildlife preserve. The toll on them will be devastating. I'll likely drive through there in a few months. I am saddened by what I am likely to see.

It's exactly how I felt looking at those shelters evicting Canadian born seniors, women, foster kids, not lgbt.
