I like how Dante gave both the worse and the best pronunciations lmao
-
I like to believe nobody knows how it’s pronounced except Vergil but he doesn’t tell anyone
-
POV: Your friends are trying to read something in a foreign language
-
Vergil would definitely be the sibling to be anal about pronunciation. “I would love to give you the YamaDough but I don’t have any YamaDough Dante, sorry.”
-
The reboot also gave us “yaMATo”. This thing’s name pronunciation is as all over as its abilities. They add a new one every game!
-
If i'm being honest dante saying Yamato wrong is so in character for him
-
YamaTO YAMAATO Ya ma toe Ya ma toe Yama doe Yama doe Yama oe
-
0:01 gotta give him credit for enthusiasm
-
“If you want it… then you’ll have to pronounce it.”
-
"Give me the tomato." - Dante
-
There’s also the time Vergil said it after his fight with Nero I believe
-
Damn you. Now I'm questioning the way I've been pronouncing Yamato now!
-
You should put a random clip of Nero saying "arm" XD
-
interesting considering it's Dante's voice actor who's fluent in Japanese (albeit with a thick American accent)
-
As a mexican it came to my mind that one of the cool things of spanish is that is phonetically very similar to japanese, so you can practically just read the word in your accent and it will sound pretty close
-
I actually love it when characters pronounce names differently, it kinda adds realism to it. Another case of that is found in FFXIV where characters, depending on what side they are on pronounce the name Vidofnir differently. It is a very foreign name, so it makes sense that only those who are close to this character would know how to correctly pronounce it
-
Pronounce it however you like it’s still a cool name
-
It reminds me of Naruto where basically Yuri Lowenthal was the only person to pronounce the name correctly.
-
each time i see it, it makes me believe that the yamato isnt called the yamato
