It actually makes sense that his initial transformation looks like this. Yamato is the sword that can separate man from devil. When Nero used it as a catalyst for his transformation it separated his devil trigger from his physical form creating the phantasm.

everytime I watch this, it gives me goosebump when Nero said "From that day forth, my arm changed, and a voice echoed. Power, Give me more Power!" I can even hear it in vergil's voice

I can imagine people playing this for the first time thinking Nero is Dante’s right up to this point. Up until hearing “give me more power!” And holding Yamato, realizing “oh crap, he’s Vergil’s kid”

He's Vergil's son alright. He has white hair, kidda triggered his demon side, fixed Yamato and uses it no problem. Also, "Power, give me more...power!" which reminds me of the blue demon himself.

3:28 This scene does more than show that Nero is Vergil’s son but it also shows the real reason why Vergil seeks power so much. That he’s willing to become a monster just to protect those he love. Remember, Devil Arms are a portion of the owner’s soul so the Yamato is Vergil’s devil arm and this is Vergil’s soul protecting his son

4:45 I love this quote because I can see Nero saying this for Kyrie, but can also see Vergil saying the exact same thing for his mother. Just another quote showing the connection between Vergil and Nero.
