Hey guys! Sorry for the short hiatus. Today we're BACK with one of my favorite gut healing recipes - Low FODMAP BONE BROTH.

Why is bone broth so great for gut health, you ask: COLLAGEN.

Collagen is the most abundant protein found in the human body. It's one of the major building blocks for our skin, bones, muscles, joints, and gut lining. It's basically the glue that holds us all together. ;)

Those of us with digestive issues often develop intestinal permeability aka leaky gut which allows bacteria, toxins, and food molecules to pass through the gut lining and into places they shouldn't be. This triggers the immune system and causes allergies, food sensitivities, migraines, rashes and other skin problems. Collagen helps to repair these holes like spackle on a wall.

Check out this video to see how I use just a few ingredients to transform water into a seriously flavorful and HEALING broth.

2-3 Rotisserie Chickens (carcasses only)
3-4 Carrots
3" Ginger
1 Lemon (peel only)
1 bunch Cilantro (stems only)
2 TB Apple Cider Vinegar

1/2 tsp Peppercorns (ground black pepper okay)

Add water unto the fill line in your instant pot, then pressure cook on high for 2 hours. Next uncover and sauté for 1 hour until reduced. Strain and cool overnight. Finish by scraping the fat off of the top. Refrigerate for 1 week or store in the freezer for 3 months.

  • My first time watching, instantly I like how down to earth you are. Don’t listen to the negative comment, your sweet, simple and I enjoy your recipe and will so try it. My mom has diverticulitis and I’m looking for ways to help her heal her gut. So thank you very much for showing that it’s possible with chicken bones since we don’t eat beef. ❤

Actually, you think your bone broth is concentrate in collagen but it is not. The purpose of cooking all day long (since you’re asking) is to come to the point when the bone deteriorates. When you press the bone with two fingers, it must be soft like a sponge and fall in pieces. That means all the collagen and nutrients escaped from the bone. Then when your broth has cooled down, it should turn into gelatine, a solid structure that you can cut with a knife. Your broth is still liquid. The only way to get this solid structure is the slow cooking. You broth is certainly not bad, but you just didn’t get the maximum from your bones. But your dog will get it. 😊
  • This video is so helpful my son suffers from Crohn's I'm gna try this thank you so much🙏
  • Yum! I'm the one who boils their carcasses all day long. Perfect in the wintertime when the humidity is low, kind of a win-win. Now I NEVER thought of adding lemon zest and ginger though. I'm doing that next batch!
