  • Hey i had a familiar problem with my 2004 rx8 and first of all check compression if that's good check the check engine light. After that if you have a code saying fuel system too lean check your fuel injectors the problem with mine was the fue injectors.

Definitely sounds like a blown motor... I've had 2 rxz and the first had the same problem.... Basically..bad could/plugs...leads to bad cat..leads to excess wear and sky high temps.... The apex seal springs may have have up before the seals themselves... Either way a rebuild in on the cards! :( It can be worth trying to clean out the housing and rotors with Mr muscle or something at this point... Sometimes the seals stick in the "compressed state" and can pop back out when cleaned..good luck
  • hey marcelo just wondering, Was the engine completely gone, Im having the same issue would pulling my cat and replacing the o2 sensors ect fix the issue and make it run better or is it gone? mine sounds exactly the same as yours did

Took it to the mazda dealership and found out needs new cat, low compression in 2nd rotor (so needs new motor) mine also had bad wire harness and bad o2 sensors
  • Did you find out what this problem was caused by?

Failing coil, bad cat which then led to rotor damage, and loss of compression
