This guy gets a cardio workout every time he tells a story 🙂

Scotty is such an outlaw he's been known to fearlessly tear those " Do Not Remove This Tag Under Penalty of Law" from all his couch cushions. 👍
  • Illegal ways to make your car faster: 1. No muffler’s (causes backfire if not tuned) 2. No catalytic converters (fails emissions test) 3. Nitrous Oxide (can blow up engines, legal in some states only) 4. Bigger fuel injectors (ecu tuning a must) Thank you Scotty for all the info you give us. I especially loved this one lol 🙏
  • "Never assume there is only one problem" is some of the best car advice one can get, especially for a DIY mechanic learning to work on their own rides. A lot of people work on their own cars to save time and/or money, but if youre not careful and thorough, you'll lose a lot of both. One thing my dad taught me as a kid "before you start trying to fix your own car, get a bus pass and make sure your bicycle is in good shape". We laughed, but its so true

It’s a shame that there are so many crooked mechanics out there but when you see one honest like this guy i rather spend my hard earn money on this guy or any honest mechanic. They deserve the work.

If it is against federal law to remove a catalytic converter from a car, then why aren't car thieves charged with a federal crime? That would put such thieves in jail for longer and less cats would be stolen and the air would be cleaner. Win, win for everyone.
  • The "don't need back pressure" thing is especially true for turbocharged cars. You want as little restriction as possible after the turbine, otherwise the pressure will actually hurt the spooling characteristics of the turbocharger. It's why on big turbo cars, you see the catalytic converter either: replaced with a high flow racing cat, removed, or moved farther down stream to reduce restriction and improve turbo spooling. Even a small size upgrade, changing to a lower restriction exhaust has improved responsiveness due to letting that turbo spool more rapidly.

I had the def system removed from my diesel truck. It operates cooler, cleaner, and improved fuel mileage by 15%

My wife backfires. I feel shell-shocked consistently.

Even if ya don't give a crap about mechanics, Scotty is fun to watch! Congrats on the 5 million subs Scotty.
  • If the video was on mute and you play the video to an orchestra they could possibly play a melody following Scotty's arm movements
  • At my high school in the 80s the thing was either slammed "Cal Bugs" or "Baja Bugs", but the VW Bug was THE car to have and modify - and of course there was a rivalry between either the lowered Cal Bugs and the Bajas... one day after school a Cal Bug passed my brother and I (we were in the Baja Bug) and the driver of the Cal Bug kicked on his NOS to pass us up a hill... he left the valve open too long and all we saw was the rear hood and engine parts explode out the rear of the car. The damage was so instantaneous and massive that it stopped his car almost exactly where it blew (it locked up the rear drive wheels and shredded his tranny, too) ... yes, we beat him to the top of the hill laughing all the way and never looked back!
  • I sure enjoy learning about different parts of automobiles. Your videos are real gems to enjoy! Thank you very much Scotty .. Keep up the good work!
  • Scotty is one of the most honest mechanics I’ve ever heard… My mechanic is a great guy as well. Keep up the awesome job.👏
  • When I lived in California back in the 80's, I inherited a 6 cyl. Ford Granada. Just like Scotty described, the time came when I couldn't get over 35 or 40 mph. My mechanic friend 'fixed' the problem by simply removing the honeycomb from inside the CAT with a pair of pliers. The car passed the smog test every time.

Correction:  Scotty Always enjoy your videos. One correction the Saab Sonett and other Saabs of that era have a V4 Ford 4 stroke and a 3Cyl 2 stroke Shrike engine. The 3 Cyl was said to have a lifetime warranty in their sales brochure..
