In my experience, no college I've ever been to or heard of actually has a dress code. However, professors are extremely impressionable. I could definitely see a professor asking a student to leave the lecture hall/classroom if your outfit is just wildly inappropriate (ie the bra and cowboy boots thing, lol), especially if it's a smaller class (not 200+ people). Also, think about if you might be asking the professor for a reference in the future, which you very well might be if you're going to be engaging in discussion a lot as you have said previously. You don't want to become "that girl who wore lingerie to class" if you're trying to make professional contacts!
