I was taught in a small lawn mower repair shop how to bore engines using that exact same equipment he did it absolutely perfectly. The newer Pistons are hyperbaric means they have a high silica content therefore it cuts the thermal expansion like close to 50% on the piston. I'm just allows you to get your clearance down to 0.0025" to 0.0032 for a piston of that approximate size. Old school cast Pistons require more clearance due to the greater thermal expansion properties. So 0.0033" to 0.0038". The cylinder sleeve will have thermal expansion 50% less than the cast piston and about 70% less than the hyperbaric depending on the amount of silica content and other processes. Ceramic coating the top of the piston will reduce the Pistons temperature so you could get about 0.0003"tighter clearance than the above clearances with a ceramic coated piston dome.

Please wear rubber gloves when working with carcinogenic solvents and oils. I would not consider sanding with abrasive paper to be a replacement for honing. Honing is the superior method.
