Notice how Eren repeats his vow once used in reference to titans now being used in reference to humanity.

The whole rumbling scene in the final part 1 might actually be my fav moment in AoT. Goosebumps man.
  • That moment when the whole crew is invited to the refugee camp for drinks and food is so bittersweet to me because their whole lives, since the first episode, they had to become adults and soldiers and leave their childhood behind. They rarely had that time to bond and just enjoy life and each other’s company, and if they had that luxury, I don’t think Eren would’ve ended up this way.

I get chills every damn time i see the rumbling arrive in Marley. Perfection
  • The Ramzi scene with Eren tearing up then joining the refugees with the entire crew and how the whole thing ties in with next episode is one of the moments of the show for me

I feel people don't pay too much attention to Mikasa's monologue in the beginning,:"maybe he always was like this and this is the real him, but if this is the real him, what did I see in him before?". Most of us have fallen in love with someone not so good and we ignore the negative sides of them, or maybe that person was too good hiding their true self and then when the mask comes off we ask ourselves "what did I see in you before?". Of course, this is taken to the ABSOLUTE extreme but I think Mikasa's thoughts were very compelling. Watching the person she loves become the biggest monster in the world must be the biggest heartache and her inner conflict is just great to explore.

The similarity between the end scene and the Garrison running away from the walls when the Armoured Titan attacked in the 2nd ever episode.

This is an absolute masterpiece of an episode. Brings out the most melancholy feeling you can ever feel imo.
  • I know you watched this ages ago but anyhow, the conversation with Zeke about the Ackermans - that their powers awaken as a survival instinct and has nothing to do with being a protector of someone else - is to tell us that Eren knew that his theory had no basis, but still said it to Mikasa to hurt her feelings and make her hate him (he himself didn't believe the words he was saying, in that epic restaurant scene)

12:20 Just to be clear, Mikasa's "instinct" is just relevant in that scene because of Eren's lie to her that she will do anything to protect their "master." Rather than anything, if Eren is put in danger, because he matters so much to her, her instincts kick in protect him, but it's not something built into Ackermann blood. It was an attempt by him to discourage Mikasa from coming after him, likely by trying to convince her that she would try to stop anybody from killing Eren. He used the information that Mikasa would probably try to protect him if he got attacked to make her thing it was just in her blood when Armin punched him.
  • No, I don't think they made the transition to the past to be confusing. 😅 Quite the opposite in fact, I think they trusted the audience would pick up on Mikasa first reflecting on the past and why we then see them in a way different context with people who should not be there. Not a lot of options.
  • The end of this episode and the first and second episodes are mirror images of each other. Even down to some camera shots being identical.
