Another thing worth mentioning if you are going to buy a used Tesla Model Y/3; They are coming out with a big UI update and you need to have a car equipped with the RYZN chip in it. They made the switch to this chip in December of 2021. All 2022 and newer models should have this chip but this can be confirmed in the cars infotainment system before you make your purchase got to "software" and the click "additional vehicle information" to see which processor it has. This will essentially future proof your vehicle more then cars without it.

My Model Y Long Range is the same age as yours and I am still loving this car. Best car I've ever owned.
  • @usmcsaxoki
Just supercharged my 2024 Model Y LR at a 250kW supercharger for the first time. Absolutely awesome! Went from 30% to 86% in about 25 minutes. My wife and two kids had a picnic lunch nearby while we waited. So cool.
  • @DoctaM3
You're too accurate. No one say Prii. This is correct but us "Americans" don't give a damn about correct pronunciation. Anyway, I might need to update my Model Y Performance--almost about to hit 100K but honestly, car has been solid. Thanks for sharing. Always good videos.

GREAT CHAT!!! I bought a 2020 MSLR+ on Feb 29th… and couldn’t get my wife out of it.. So on April 15th I bought a 2022 MYLR. These cars are right for us at this moment in time. All of your point are 100% correct! Nice Job.

I ordered the model 3, 2 weeks ago and I got a nice price drop.

Nice video. I have a 2019 LR Model 3. I bought mine for one simple reason, the cost of gasoline was closing in on $500 per month for commuting. Since I bought my car, I've spent $2500 for electricity (California) through a mix of off peak PG&E, low cost charging at work, free charging programs, and solar (since Aug '23) on 75,000 miles. My maintenance costs are $300 for a set of wipers, 12v battery replacement and cabin filters and $900 for a new set of tires at 45K. I plan to change vehicles at 100K and never plan to buy another ICE vehicle. Don't understand the push back on EV's. ICE vehicles aren't going away despite the political push for EVs because they just don't make sense for the entire population, but they do make sense for a major segment of the population, primarily homeowners who have access to low cost overnight charging and don't drive more than 200 miles a day. If you have range anxiety and have two or more vehicles an EV still makes sense for commuting and local driving and you can use the second vehicle (ICE or hybrid) for travel.

We took the plunge in 2021 with a Model 3 SR+. Missed the discounts and tax credits. It was stated a 3 month wait (at that time). We got it in one week. Still love driving it, although my wife uses it mostly 😂. We got a 2023 Y LR too (got the $14k discount + 7.5k tax credit). It’s been such a joy and so much fun to drive. We laugh at all the people paying $5 + for gas and waiting in line for 30 mins at Costco gas.

If the new Y is anything close to the new 3 I would wait wait wait and pay the extra. The new 3 is mind blowing
  • @civwar64bob77
Great honest update, and I just love your sense of humor!
  • I like that you mentioned “don’t rush”. Like you said, if the price goes up $1000 next month, it’s not the end of the world. I’m waiting 3 more months to place an order because it will be financially smarter for me to wait a little longer.
  • @mrboogang
Just took delivery of my new 2024 Model 3 and wow. Just wow. This car is awesome in every single way. 5 years above all competition on a tech front, EV front, and a drivability front. Nothing else compares, and yes, I drove 5 other EV's including the Seal, and no, they don't competitively compare. Enough said.
  • @tonydan7749
Prices are going to drop way more. Just wait for the new model Y refresh.
  • @Streeknine
If you buy used, I would go for a 2022, you get the Ryzen chip and 16v li-ion battery instead of the lead-acid most of the new stuff without losing any of the perks like sensors and stalks.
  • @17forever64
That was the best video you have made. Very informative and funny! Thank you!
  • @JoalHarding
Time to upgrade my roof sunshade! Thank you 😊@Gjeebs !
  • @nw2306
In my area I can get a long range used for $36,000 with 17,000 miles (2023) or should I get a new 2024. What’s your opinion and thoughts.
  • @CropCircleCritic
The EV rules: 1. LEASE - DO NOT BUY!! 2. Never EVER rely on public chargers 3. Never forget to plug it in overnight 4. Do not demand more than light duty out of it 5. All of your daily driving must fit within half the vehicle’s advertised range 6. It will be your second vehicle to an ICE car 7. Never go off the beaten path 8. No, you will not go on road trips 9. No, you will NOT attempt to tow with it 10. Try not to actually drive it 11. Remember that any problem you encounter is your fault & not the car’s
