In this video, I talk about one of my favorite games from my childhood, Epic Mickey. I always felt like this was a game that deserved way more coverage than we ever gave it, so I decided to be the change I wanted to see in the world and make this video!

Sooooooo turns out this game WON'T be forgotten anymore!
  • I was really into this game as a kid. I was so excited for the sequel in fact that I wrote a nicely written letter to Warren Spector asking for the game early. Months later, I was sent a box full of Epic Mickey Merch like a cup, a hat, pins, signed sketches from the developers, the official artbook for the first game, and a response back in the form of another letter. The team said they they were having a rough time developing the game and losing moral, but my letter reminded them that they were making the game for young Disney fans like myself and boosted the team's spirit. They even said that when the game released that they would send me a free copy of the game for whatever console I wanted. While I never actually got that copy because the company was shut down soon after its release, it's a moment I'll never forget.

Fun Fact about the Clock Tower boss: Within the lore of the game the “It’s a Small World” song was what drove the Clock Tower mad, and the devs originally wanted the player to redeem him a different way. The original concept was the same until the player is brought to its face, where instead of repainting the happy face, the faceplate would open revealing a small chamber containing a record player that the player would destroy to “stop the music” (hence the good path pin name)
  • I love that they calibrated how far to take the grim aspect by taking it too far and then seeing how much they were told to tone it back.
  • One part of Epic I really enjoyed is how they managed to shrug off certain tropes usually associated with video games. Best example would have to be their perfect excuse for using what seems to be the same characters over and over. Mickey even says that these extras all look the same, and Gus later clarifies that they were actually scrapped, old draft versions of same or similar toon, all ended up here.

Horror or not, it’s real fun to hear someone talk so passionately about a game period. Doesn’t matter what you do Pastra you will never get rid of me and a lot of others!
  • @atlix2
i remember being fucking TERRIFIED of this game when i was really little so seeing it featured on a horror channel years later feels like vindication

Who's here after the announcement of epic Mickey rebrushed? 🙋‍♂️

I am SO GLAD a lot of people in the recent years have finally accepted that this game is a Masterpiece. It may be a flawed platformer, but the story, the style, the concept itself is everything that gets you so involved that it makes you let those little mistakes pass. This game was my introduction to the Nintendo Wii, it didn't age that well in terms of visual quality, but does that really matter? I've made a lot of memories, and I still do. Everything in this game is perfect, in my opinion.
  • Out of all the games I expected you to talk about, this was not it. I was filled with so much nostalgia watching this because I fell in love with the game the same way you did, a fateful Christmas morning
  • God, just hearing the music from this game makes me feel so nostalgic, it really makes me sad how Disney pulled the plug on this franchise that had so much potential

This right here is the series that I think needs a remake/remaster/sequel to more so than any other. A remake where the camera is improved, graphics are enhanced, actions have more consequence (especially in regards to epic Mickey 2 if it’s a collection). That would make my life complete
  • @BlueCat201X
I really appreciate the mindset of "the only way to find out where the line is drawn is to cross it and go completely overboard with it". That was one hell of a power move to pull on Disney
  • @vbbrothers
This is one of the games that I could never finish as a kid and I had to grow a couple more braincells to actually finish the game
  • @Hynotama
Turns out it’s not so forgotten. They’re releasing a remastered or remake on every current platform. And the difference in visuals is substantial. Better lighting, better and more detailed textures, even remodeled objects. It’s called Epic Mickey Rebrushed. I’m so excited for it. I’ve been wanting to play it for years.
  • @useryeeted4336
Pastra, dude, we’re getting a remaster. I’m so happy man, this is the best day ever.
  • One quick thing I wanted to say about the Clock Tower's battle theme: Anyone else notice it was a dark fantasy version of "It's a Small World After All"?
  • @Sonicsaber25
Epic Mickey was such a cool game. Despite being a Disney IP based game, it felt more... obscure I guess, compared to some of the other games on the Wii. Another obscure-like game on the Wii that I really enjoyed was Dokapon Kingdom.
  • @JDaTopo
This game was probably single-handedly responsible for my obsession with music when i was like 6/7. The soundtrack is one of the best game soundtracks in existence imo, and it's criminally underrated.
  • @FulsomeFrog
The remake just got announced, the forgotten has finally been uncovered
