  • I am so glad flats and kitten heels are in style! Flats were all the rage in the 1960s and had a resurgance in the '80s. I got married in '78 and my sister in '81, and we and our attendentsi all wore kitten-heeled slingbacks. So cute. For me, it's a feminist issue too. Women deserve comfy low heeled shoes. Im an outdoorsy type and ive never been into high heels.

I’m so glad you are embracing flat shoes! I have been wearing zero-drop shoes for 5 years now, and they really have changed my life. My feet don’t hurt anymore and neither do my ankles, knees and back.
  • Love those flats Marie-Anne. A few years ago I would not look at flat shoes but now at 76 yrs they are a must and your choices are perfect. Many thanks as usual for your guidance.x
  • I live in Vionics. They are wonderful for foot problems and their ballet flats are my go to shoe all year round. My shoe uniform.

I love my Mary Janes from Clarks. The ones I now use for gardening have 1 strap and the newer ones I wear out and about have elastic criss cross straps. A nice little touch of difference. They are so comfortable, yet stylish too. My doctor said I needed to have Brooks walking shoes, so I got them, but find my Mary Janes just as supportive and comfortable.

My favorite is ballet flats. I probably already own 11 pairs but i don't have any pastels. Sounds like i need to go shopping. 😊
  • I love “almond-toes” in footwear, they can be as comfy as round toes for those of us with wider toes, but they are often difficult to find. I definitely prefer a squarish-toe shape over a really rounded one, but sometimes will compromise on that if the footwear is otherwise perfect, as in a pair of taupe suede boots I just got. I think a squared-off, or slightly tapered, shape would be a more stylish, but I will still enjoy them. I’m discovering that many of my ankle-boots have such low shafts that thet don’t look good with shorter, straight trousers. They were designed for the days when we wore skinnies that covered the ankles and even bunched up there.

I love a cute Mary Jane but was especially happy to see the Oxford style ('derbies') as I've always loved those. They're kinda nerdy, but in the best way. Maybe a new pair of sandals this year, too. I need to go shoe-shopping now! Thanks, Marie-Anne!

Those Sole Bliss sneakers sound promising for foot problems and that's a lovely find, Marie-Anne. Love your modelling 💕

Anything with a strap or strap. I walk out of ballerina flats or mules. I have a narrow heel and high arch. Love that we have so many good flat choices.
  • @lisafalzetta9116
The lilac look is lovely on you, but I love the leather pants with the pale pink jacket and the “Les derbies”!❤
  • @happy1804
Such a lovely purple sweater and the scarf colors are so classy looking with it!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊
  • Here in the US we call those "derbies" "oxfords" -- not sure why. Possibly because of the British? I remember as a young dancer, we actually had a very minimalist version we referred to as jazz oxfords. But these oxfords are much more supportive and you can find them in many colors, even in two tone - what we called wing tips!

thank you for these ideas Marie-Anne. I find it very difficult to wear heels now and so ballet flats have become my go-to for most occasions but I also have recently bought some sneakers which are white with pale metallic trim from Hotter and they go very well with trousers or jeans and in summer I will also pair them with informal floaty dresses.
  • I always feel vulnerable when my toes are not covered so I’m glad to hear that you approve of closed toed shoes during spring and summer.
  • I love the Mary Jane and ballerina shoes. You gave me some great ideas for shoe options for spring. Thank you so much, Marie- Anne
  • @a.williams10
Beautiful selection for flat shoes, Marie-Anne. My all time favourites are ballet flats, Mary Janes and loafers. Those sneakers look so comfortable and chic! Comfort in style is always possible. Love all your outfits and shoes. You're looking so youthful. Merci 💜

I used to have a fabulous pair of Sam & Libby ballerina flat. Black leather with a silver bow & toe “cap” adored those shoes.
