Talk's Julia Hartley-Brewer and former Government advisor Claire Pearsall react to a police officer being suspended after a video which appeared to show a man being kicked as he lay on the floor sparked a protest.

Crowds gathered outside Rochdale Police Station late on Wednesday night after footage shared on social media appeared to show a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer kick and stamp on the head of a man who was lying face down on the floor, with a woman kneeling beside him.

The video, said to have been filmed at Manchester Airport’s terminal two on Tuesday, also appeared to show the officer strike a second man.

Police said three of their officers had been assaulted, including a female Pc who suffered a broken nose, and four men were arrested.

Julia says: "He could've died!"

  • In many countries the police would have gone in with guns blazing.
  • @onlyme8117
The GMP top wimp is going to visit their families offering sympathy and pleading with them not to riot and can he do anything for them.

Solider. Stabbed. By. A. Refugee. Wat about. Dat. Yesterday. Morning. He was Stabbed. Not. Kicked
  • The Mob out side the police station last night were using threatening words and behaviour the ring leaders need arresting and sent to prison for causing unrest
  • Save your bleeding hearts for the soldier attacked in Kent by a migrant who crossed through Italy in 2023.

. These people have no respect for the law in this country . They show us that every day
  • In any other nation they would have been shot dead, not allowed to hospitalise three police officers, including a woman. Spare me the usual Islamic pleading for special treatment.
  • @Eric-qm5xw
The stabbing of the soldier is the biggest story ..wtf.
  • NO REASON to resist arrest, if one does, then one is FULLY responsible for what happens after.
  • The man on the floor wouldnt show what was in his hands these people had assaulted 3 armed officers.
  • @martins24455
They attacked 3 officers for trying to search a muslim woman .they they punched female officer breaking her nose so if they got the weapon from one of the officers other people in the airport would have been in danger .
  • Instead of just spending your working days, sitting in a chair, spouting your BS Julia, why don't you have a go policing, perhaps you will change your (small) mind.
  • @irene3196
I have no sympathy for those who think our laws don't apply to them. Airports are sensitive areas these days and the Police are armed for a reason. The officer who was suspended should be reinstated immediately.
  • Play stupid games win stupid prizes. Dont attack police in the first place.
  • Show us the full video? If the officer is holding a gun he can only use his feet and knees.
  • @madhatt4999
If they were White British no one would care less. We don't yet know the risks the officer was facing though
  • If this approach was used more often, maybe the thugs that broke a women’s nose would think twice before being so violent. Then they wouldn’t get stamped on. You reporters are always saying that the police are weak, so don’t condemn them for being strong. The only people that need to be concerned are those who are violent in the first place.
