I did that last prank on my friend who got an older Samsung phone for his birthday and I just happened to have found a smashed up phone that looked really similar a few years prior and for some reason kept it. He was so horrified for a whole 30 seconds as I stomped on it over and over until the body split in half. I really wish I remembered what his reaction was after I pulled his real phone out of my pocket but all I could remember is the horror in his face as he stared at me in disbelief.
