The RED RANK Experience (As a Beginner)

Publicado 2024-03-09
This is part 6 of my journey to play 100 ranked matches in Tekken 8 as a total beginner. Today we break into the red ranks. Where boys become men, and men become pluggers. Just how far can a beginner go with smart practice and review? Lets find out.

In my next video I'll be going over how I've been practicing to get this far and sharing some advice I have for fellow beginners.

RIP Akira Toriyama. That Budokai Tenkaichi soundtrack brought back memories

Not gonna lie i was really feelin some big D protagonist energy in that match 9 versus Bryan. Damn!
  • Congratulations on your rank man, me personally I’ve been stuck in Garyu for a minute and hearing how u yourself went about your practice and lab time is giving me ideas and a new outlook on what I should do with my play.

Yo I like the upload schedule my guy right when i was thinking "It's been a while since i've seen one of his videos" keep up the good work!
  • Congrats on reaching Garyu! The real fights start now lol. You need way more points to start ranking up from here, but if you stick to your gameplan and put in the practice, you may even be comfortable in purple ranks by the end of this journey. Let me also say that the music choice is great! The Budokai Tenkaichi 2 OST in the first game gave me nostalgia (RIP Akira Toriyama)

I just got to Red's as a complete beginner to Tekken and fighting games in general, shit feels GOOD. Can't believe i got into fighting games so late, they really scratch a competitive itch no other game has been able to. Improving actually feels so insanely rewarding.

Red ranks!!! Each time I’ve ranked up I always go “ah…. Now the pain really starts….”

Really loving the series and congrats on red rank. If you can you should try recording vids at 60fps for a better viewing experience(and hopefully more views).

So. Couple things i've picked up since our last engagement as i too have begun my jin journey and entered the yellow ranks just a bit ago which i'd say is pretty good for my second session. (Everything before was just me playing around in the demo of tekken 8 i'm in the full game now) Anyways D+2 is an intersting move because even on block is has some viable use as it apparently leaves you in crouch state, so from there you can actually press 2 and get while rising uppercut or even do stuff like while rising 4 or a whole hopkick which is UF4. Then i also learned that power stance(DB 1+2) is not the best move normally, but in heat it goes crazy and is amazing even on block. In fact part of my gameplan as of late has included using power stance after a heat engager like FF2, F3,1 or DF4 it forces the opponent to block regardless and on block or hit it puts you into a crouch dash which enables jin to use traditional mishima style moves like his devil jin hellsweep with the extra followup hit or actual EWGF (not his current EWHF) he even gets thunder god fist which is the jumping 1 punch the other mishimas have. It's an amazing tool and a solid use of heat meter as it doesn't pull you out of heat right away, so you can heat smash for pressure. And speaking of pressure if you ever need to quickly toss the opponent to the wall from mid stage or sometimes full stage length, pressing 4 in the middle of a heat smash will alter it to do less flashy moves and instead end in a powerful FF4 that will send opponents crashing through the stage like the kool aid man. Hope this helps and if you already knew about it then hopefully it's a solid refresher. Keep up the training and hopefully we'll fight each other sometime! See you in ranked

The tip that helped me a lot is that throws are lows. Use them, people don't tech. Also you can duck them in defense, if someone spams them.

just as i watch this a few hours ago i just hit the purple ranks with my jin. Red ranks will be quite an experience but i'm sure you'll manage!
