It’s really awful how some people are making jokes about this event. Many people do not realize how serious this actually is.

In the 2022 closed primary in Pennsylvania, several prominent candidates ran but the key race was Lt Gov. John Fetterman vs ___________. Control of the Senate was a stake. It's been reported that Democrats in the state wanted Mehmet Oz, a television personality, as Fetterman's opponent rather than David McCormick. They wanted Oz because he's considered an outsider. Because Pennsylvania runs closed primaries, dems can register as republican (and vice versa) and vote for the 'weaker' Republican candidate -- this is called "party raiding" and some suspect that happened in 2021 and 2022 in Penn.
