To be honest it feels refreshing to see car people talk about the positives for once. You are generally pretty conservative when it comes to cars. You know, keeping it basic etc. That is not me complaining about car people btw. I love cars myself. It is just something I noticed. I do understand that modern cars sometimes go too far and add too much complexity, but I also think that they are improving things.

As a PC enthusiast and robot developer, I actually don't like how much tech has been added, because most of it is just gimmicky stuff that yields very little improvement, but increases the price (both total vehicle cost and maintenance costs), complexity, and failure rates. In fact for some cars, the electronic replacements are distinctly worse. Take seat controls for example. Those motors are so slow and heavy, and it costs extra to have them. Having a few spring-loaded levers are so much faster, easier, cheaper, and light-weight. However, I do see the benefit of electric controls when you have "seat profiles" for multiple drivers.

Performance/handling and safety are the best trends over the last fifteen years....pretty much covered most of this list. I still own a 2000 Civic that I bought new, eighteen years ago. I just bought a 2018 Civic. I can directly compare the two. The differences across the board are night and day.

It is funny. I'm an IT guy, I've seen countles devices bricked by OTA updates (Apple, Android, Windows) Now we get to celebrate cars doing this too

I agree with your comment on tires but a bit surprised that you made no mention of winter tires. For those of us who live in snow and ice four to six months a year, the advances in these tires are literally life savers.
