(Now do you understand) and i looked up the meaning and i got Melanie was born to Puerto Rican and Dominican parents, making her Hispanic. However, some people have accused her of white-passing or not being a true Latina. In spite of this, Melanie has stated that she is proud of her Hispanic heritage, and embraces it fully, as she does here. This line could be seen as Melanie calling out people who refuse to recognize her Hispanic heritage. Tying in with the Spanish phrase “Ahora lo entiendes”, which translates to “Now do you understand?”, Melanie strikes back at her haters and affirms her Hispanic background. YES MELANIE YES WE LOVE OUR RACE (I am Hispanic too btw)
