Seeing a supercut of Disney failing certainly was a delight.

The shows not having a showrunner actually explains a lot

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Disney were too obsessed with flinging as much shit at the wall as they could, to see what would stick, that they didn't stop and think, "Hang on, why are we flinging shit?"

The problem is that Disney+ was a fundamentally flawed concept and part of the reason why individual streaming services as a whole are in trouble. They saw Netflix and thought "why can't we do that ourselves?" But they got the formula backwards. Netflix got big off a diverse library and a few incredibly high quality original shows. They only started flooding the platform with Netflix Originals AFTER making it big and getting the revenue to fund it. Disney+ went straight to flooding the market with sub-par content and their library just too limited on its own.

Good, it pleases me that Disney is suffering these days

Love how adamant Disney is about not properly planning out releases of their biggest IPs (Marvel, Star Wars). Starting with The Force Awakens, they really just seem to be winging it by banking off of nostalgia and name recognition to garner acclaim and revenue.
  • To be clear. Wanda's villain arc in Multiverse of Madness didn't make sense to people who DID watch WandaVision.

It's so crazy that the big takeaway for Disney is "after wasting billions of dollars and about five years of your time because we have no idea what we're doing, we finally decided to hire people with experience in TV who know how to do TV" It's like the owner of a failing restaurant saying "after careful consideration, we've finally decided to hire chefs and get rid of our packet mashed potatoes"

Doesn't matter how good the quality is, five MCU shows in one year is ridiculous. The fatigue is unavoidable.
  • They made a Disney streaming platform and then somebody had the bright idea to not put all the classic Disney movies on it, they could've made money off people just watching the old movies but then that would mean nobody watching the new stuff...

Disney and the MCU need to take a step back, slow down, and make things more streamlined.
  • Disney getting into the streaming game JUST as oversaturation was beginning to bloat the market and failing is levels of irony I'd never thought I'd see.

I think you've got a good point on the marketing perspective of characters for Star Wars and the addiction to recognition. That said, they could have leveraged that earlier in their run by properly passing the torch, rather than torching the past. Fans love is willing to transfer to a new generation of heroes, and you can build up a cast of characters we'd want to follow on further adventures in both movies and tv.

The strike did more good for the studios than people may think. They were able to get out of a lot of contracts
  • @Shrike1988
That was a long and accurate way to say, Disney is morally and creatively bankrupt

The editing in this video is excellent 🔥🔥🔥

Star Wars (and Pirates and the old Disney movies) are the only things keeping me on Disney+ rn. They really need to step up their game

I just watched Mauler's video about Dr. Strange's sequel and the whole "hey we know you just wrote this script buuuuut we're changing directions so you'll just have to write the new script as we go along because all the sets and actors are here thaaaanks" seems to be a thing with Marvel movies/shows and it explains A LOT.

Disney is making new company mistakes with big company money.
  • I feel that superhero fatigue is a real thing. It's the same reason why genres trend throughout decades. Crime noir was extremely popular at one time. Westerns were also incredibly popular. Than in the 90s we had action films like Speed and Die Hard. There's a reason these big grossing genres don't remain popular throughout the decades. Saturation is one of them.
