Itd be pretty fun to have a helldivers team sporting different languages but they can understand each other either way
  • @TheHotDogGuy.
Headcannon I've had for a while: all helldivers have a translator chip or something in their heads that allow them to understand each other. Tho i do wish different languages would appear in the game instead of our default languages, I think it would be sick (mix languages for global gameplay in case none of that other stuff made sense) Also, now i gotta know how to get helldivers 2 but Japanese addition

I tried the Japanese dub and was so into it I kept fighting and the team left without me at the end because I didn’t understand the line of the ship taking off. Still worth it. The VAs did a wonderful job and sounded so into their roles.

The Japanese have been know to dive into battle even if that kills them. Also, they have been know for over the top acting. Yeah, it makes sense it being awesome VA, it totally nails the "We fight for the cause!" vibe Helldiver is going for.

Cool idea concept: Setting your language will change your Helldivers language to other helldivers. So you can an english helldiver hearing a japanese helldiver saying japanes voicelines. OC it should be an optional setting in the audio settings.

Really makes me wish that we could select diver language on top of the voice type, having that with a random setting would be so funny, one English speaking diver dies then gets replaced by a Spanish diver, then by a Japanese diver, then by a French diver, then by a German diver, and so on.

It really suits. Japanese military jargon is very impassioned, spirited you might say depending on how it is spoken. My understanding is there's a lot of syntax in Japanese that gives context to how a word or phrase is being used where as English might use an entirely different word instead of saying the same one differently. They both do this, but I think Japanese does it more. The characters speech reminded me of historical characters and peoples as well as fictional ones especially in anime with the delivery, said with such conviction. Arrowhead truly valued the quality of the voice acting and hired some quite skilled people to accomplish it.

people often don’t mention the different levels of stress/fear that the divers can display when saying something. calling someone in when things are quiet is relatively normal but being swarmed by bugs or being rag dolled around by bot rockets your diver is practically screaming. i adore this attention to detail.
