as a german, i can give you a little insight in why it sounds so good: we got a very dedicated voice actor scene since nearly everything that get to our market is localized. They take great pride in their work and always try to give their best, so in most cases the actors and the regisseur are on the same page and try to find the right voice and tones for the characters and situations. by the way, if you like anime, understand a bit german and want to hear a very got localized one, watch Detective Conan or if you just want to have a laugh, go for the drunken Rock Lee scenes of Naruto.
