Heard this so many times, and STILL my heart starts racing the second I hear “HEY OPEN UP THE DRAWER!” Honestly, at this point, I start getting a little tense when I hear the first notes because I know what’s coming in this song. But holy crap, this is storytelling at its finest. The tension, the pacing, the realism, the perspective from the active bystander that’s just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, tying all the details together with the boyfriend from the beginning, Nate’s voice ranging from a raging demand to a terrified hush to a panicked prayer to the almost cathartic despondency of the shock in the aftermath of the terror when everything is over and all you can do is breathe. And the music video captures the essence of the song perfectly - absolutely phenomenal!
