    My mom actually told me about your channel. I guess she was having a hard time understanding what PTSD is like. My experience before my trauma was very similar to yours including working as an emt. Thank you for sharing.

    You mentioned one if the hardest things for you was dealing with the sounds if the sirens because if it triggering that fight or flight response. Also how hard it was for you to escape it due to your proximity to the hospital. I want to give a suggestion that I was given, because it worked for me. I need to give a little backstory first though. When I was about 12 I was caught outside in a lightning storm and had to run a mile down our little dirt road to get to shelter. The incident left me with a massive fear of thunder. To get past it I was told to redirect the fear response. Every time I heard thunder while alone I was to do something silly or stupid. Dance around like an idiot, spin, hop on one foot while singing I'm a little teapot... anything. Oddly enough it works, it makes you forget the fear and reprograms your brain to associate the trigger with a happy memory. If you're willing you could give it a whirl.
