Without easy access to mentorships and connections, it is so easy to get dissuaded when trying to pursue a medical license in the U.S.. But as foreign healthcare professionals, you have so many unique qualities that you can use to your advantage - being able to communicate in your native tongue is one, providing a different perspective to healthcare is another, and possessing the power of resilience (often underestimated) that molds you into a better candidate for residency.

hey, I'm so grateful to you for sharing this, despite the cons this is so encouraging for a non-US IMG! I'm currently in med school in Italy and it would be a dream to match into residency in the US, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can on the topic. Do you feel that my final grade could be of any relevance for my CV in the US? (we have a completely different grading system)

Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience! Would you mind sharing with us what kind of job you’re working while pursuing the steps? Is it in healthcare? I might need to take a ‘gap’ year after graduating to prepare for the steps, and I’m curious what types of jobs we could get to sustain ourselves and also maybe justify the gap year… Wish you all the best in your journey!
  • hi doc! i'm following you on your instagram too but it's only now that i got to check out your youtube channel. good stuff! anyway, i was just wondering how you're able to stay longterm in the usa despite being a non-US IMG? and i saw you're getting married to i assume is a US citizen. does that mean you'll now become a US IMG? thanks for the clarification in advance!
