My friend actually finished his backlog a few days ago, he said it was hell but was worth it

A “start random game” button would be cool

That spreadlist seems quite familiar... ...also, I feel personally attack, I AM going to finish my backlog, just watch me

I spent hours adding games to my cart list only to play them for an hour or two only then abandon them later

I adore watching videos of people attempting to tackle their backlog of games. It is very hopeful. I don't think it is impossible to get through your backlog, but I believe it has become a lot harder to curate a backlog you want to work though. With sales and fanbases promoting more then 100+ games at a time, it easily becomes hard to figure out what you want to play. I know I own games and series I might not have touched if it was not because of people online and I know there are a lot more on my wishlist. And since the talk is focused on platinum, 100% or beating games, it feels like a game is not done before we have done one of the three. It really has become another chore. I am currently finishing up my first playthrough of persona 5 royal, which has been fun, and a lot of work. It is such a long game! I have been deleting a lot of my backlog, so it is doable to deal with, but it is still about a year worth of work to get through it all and a lot of the reason behind that, is that I brought the full series before even trying the first game. It is no longer me picking up kingdom heart for ps2, then playing the game, before deciding to buy the next one. It is me buying all three bayonetta games and the first three devil may cry, without really looking into anything about them. So instead of just having the first bayonetta on the backlog, there are now six games. Fire emblem is another example of this madness. I have no interest in tactical games, but because of fans I am afraid of missing out on a "great game series". It only gets worse with the retro marked being priced so high, it feels like you have no time to decided if you want a game, because if you wait a bit to long, you will have to pay a fine for not being quicker. It is kind of mad XD

I finally beat Resident Evil 7 today.

The real backlog is spending the first year or 2 stressing over it, trial and error until it fits into your life like a glove one day. I learned to love games more than i ever did thanks to that. Having a completionist arc also helped.

Accepting the fact that you'll never finish it is indeed the best perspective one can have. Now I try to enjoy each game at a time, enjoying the world and the story, and appreciating the privilege of having such an extensive library of games.

Some games I finally cut out of my backlog because I know I would never get around to playing them and others I watched an edited let's play on.

There are 702 Games in my Backlog, and I'm glad I have bought them all because now I don't have to worry about running out of Games to play. The only thing that is bothering me about it, is the fact that, because I will never finish it, I might miss out on playing a Game I would love. I think we just have to accept, that we will miss out on some Games no matter what we do, and we should just enjoy the Games we are playing right now without thinking about what we could have played instead or if it is worth our time, because if you enjoy a Game, then it is worth your time, even if there is some Game out there you might like more.

Cool video. I like listening to people's thoughts about backlogs. Also, your editing is well done!
  • @ondrav3705
better having the backlog than no games to play
  • @Mr_iAN
As a not so free gamer myself, watchin ur backlogs series it feels like i have played those games without actually playing them, thanks for saving me sometime.
  • @rmguy1342
I will only buy another game after I have completed the one that I bought before. Thanks to this 'discipline' I no longer have backlogs
  • @eloratings
True. Just play, have fun with playing the video games, have a balance in life.
