Venus has long been called Earth's twin, because our sizes are so similar. But as we learned in the early 60s, on our surface we couldn't be more different. This wasn't always the case though. It's thought that up until about 500 million years ago, our planets were very similar, in fact Venus may have supported life. So what happened?

Intro produced by Cooper Carr, edited by Nick Turnbow, with special makeup effects by Sara Bachmeyer

That was legitimately one of your best opening skits! The final "Whew, kinda warm, it's kinda warm in here" had me busting up. Well done Joe :)
  • @darksensei56
I like how Joe immediately remembered he was on the internet after his joke and knew he had to put an actual warning for people to not put their hand in an oven.
  • @robynsmith4164
When I saw “Joe Venus” with the black eyeliner and black nail polish, I lost it! 😂 Joe, I absolutely LOVE the little skits you add to your videos, they are ALWAYS fun and hilarious! 😁 Love from Texas ♥️🤠🌴
  • Always loved Carl Sagan's take on Venus - "Observation: I can't see a thing. Conclusion: Dinosaurs"
  • @Luke-jo4to
I didn't know I needed 3 solid minutes of planet puns, but I very much did.
  • @Hydde87
Can you imagine how different the last half century would've been if Venus had indeed been much like Earth.
  • @SMunro
Imagine the panic that finding a city, even an abandoned ruin, would create.
  • @alexlabs4858
I wish youtube had an award ceremony because i'd vote for that for best intro. The acting, editing skills, makeup, production, and he did it by himself. Seriously was awesome
  • @rishitxsutra1639
We need more intros like these!! Omg they’re so well written
  • @cashhue941
This might have been one of your best intros yet. To the point that I think it'd be great just on it's own as a little short video. Or a whole solar system series!
  • @LoPhatKao
wasn't really into the opening til 'the human infection' haven't laughed that hard in about 2 years 😷 thanks Joe, Joe and Joe 🖖
  • Was genuinely amused by the intro skit... AND the fact that I discovered I was watching this particular vid while waiting for my dinner pizza to finish cooking! 😆
  • @alaingraham
I love how the planets' personalities was indicative of the planets' properties.
  • @diyeana
I wonder if we are missing life on other planets because we are 500,000 years off in either direction. We are extremely lucky to be here, in these perfect set of circumstances.
  • @HumanAction76
The imagination of geologists is amazing. I especially like how positive they sound with their declarations, knowing that 99.99999% of it will be proven false eventually, they just hope it is after they have died.
  • @icyweiss4717
The fact that he painted his nails to be Venus speaks volumes on his dedication.
  • @Beldizar
Venus's surface pressure is 93 bar. The Saturn V's F-1 engine had a chamber pressure of 70 bar. If you tried to light the F-1 engines on the surface of Venus, the rocket would run backwards, with the ambient air pushing its way into the engine, rather than the exhaust pushing out.
  • @diyeana
I've always suspected that Earth doesn't like its human infection, now I have confirmation. The black nail polish is a nice touch. 😅
  • Joe you need to keep doing these types of skits. There so well done and fun!👏
  • CS Lewis's Peralandra (Venus) is one of my favorite books. The green adam was a nice touch if you were referencing it. Also your optimism about the likelihood of life being on Venus and Mars is fun...but mine has been thoroughly squashed. Most everything in the universe is trying to kill life. Something really weird happened on earth.
