Hey guys in this video I do a how to restore a wood steering wheel. This is a Moto Lisa Cobra Style steering wheel that I had sitting in my 68 mustang for over 9 years. Over that time is was sitting outside and the UV rays baked the clear coat. So I fixed that issue and restore my wheel to like new condition.

  • 6 1/2 hours later is the most honest thing I've seen in one of these YouTube tutorials.... like ever lol
  • I just bought a vanderhall it has a wood steering wheel that someone painted black so your video will help me I’ll sand it down and refinish it like you did thank you😎👍🏻
  • I did this to an old GT Grant wheel for my dads 75 ford short bed. Came out supa' clean! Gives it that classic feel
  • that's awesome good job. I'm crazy about anything woodgrain. I enjoyed the video.

Restore might be a stretch. Refinish the wood is more accurate. The number one and two priorities for choosing the finish should be UV and moisture resistant. It's going to see a lot of sunlight and sweat from your hands. Recommend you shop for a finish at a marine hardware store and choose a finish meant for boats (look for anything used on "bright work").
  • Oh damn...I know you showed me, but that really does look way better! Good job.
  • Thanks for the info, just picked up a wood grant wheel for my f250, this will come in handy

Thanks for the vid. I have a Nardi Torino that's in bad shape that this would be perfect for. Will try it out
  • Good work on the wheel restoration. It's *Moto Lita*, btw. Not Moto Lisa. These wheels are from the UK, and Shelby put these wheels on his Shelby Mustangs when he first started making them.
  • @antdo
    That came out really nice.
  • Nice beard dude 👌 Oh, the steering wheel is pretty sweet too
  • Man that looks sick with the gloss varnish! What grit did you sand with? I'd be scared I'd square off the wheel or something lol
  • TAKE NOTE! You get WAY less views doing videos like this vs doing them are on your car for a reason haha :) can't wait for more Suby vids! And your video quality is SPOT on!
