New satellite images capture 4 suspected Chinese spy bases in Cuba

New images of Cuba's electronic eavesdropping bases have been captured from space and are believed to be linked to China, according to a new report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Matthew Funaiole, co-author of the report, joins CBS News to break down the findings.

  • The Cuban Missile Crisis was the Soviet’s response to America placing missiles in Italy and Turkey, first.
  • Our policies towards Cuba have been dumb since the 1990s. We kept them an enemy for silly reasons and now it's turning out badly for us now that the geo-political situation has changed.
  • the US used to have a bunch of these stations in Iran monitoring the Soviet Union before the Islamic Revolution.. losing them is what motivated us to recover our lost capabilities with satellite based coverage

This figure includes $19.9 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
